Hey, im currently working on a creative writing prodject, i was wondering if anyone else has problems with character development. I tend to stick to a few certian characters that i have come up with over the years, but now that i actually have to write down their details its became harder... anybody have any tips to help or maybe a way of planning characters more easily or something. I find that Profile pages typically used in r.p's help with the process.

Write an essay about your character. Come up with as much as you can until you feel you know them. If you write well you will find yourself unlocking things about your character that make sense that you never knew.

thats a pretty good idea, well ive got a plan now, im going to fill out profile pages for each character then add an essay so there is more detail followed by an extract so when i reference them in a few weeks i have a little taster there to help me. How does that sound?

Yes, a profile is good. That way you get the bare basics down about the character, an outline, and then an essay will help you fill and give depth and "soul" to them.

Draw them / create them on the computer and use that as a visual link. Don't have a massive paragraph on what they look like, spread it out throughout the first part of your writing. E.g. "her Maya blue eyes glinted in the moon light as she walked out from the shadows of the ash trees"
