All you have to do is click the X. It promotes it and I think the new notices look really slick
Meanies

tbh i don't mind them on the vb4 cus they look alright
if it was being done on the old forum and it looked ugly then i'd agree with you
only takes a click to get rid of it anyway

That extra clicking is so much effort :P.

People moan when we don't advertise things, people moan when we do. I think the notices look quite nice, and all you have to do is click "dismiss" and then it won't show up again until it gets updated.
It takes one click to get rid of them, we are not going to stop doing something which provides a majority of members who want to find out about how they can win such prizes because you can't be bothered to click the dismiss button :P
your doing one every day... it gets so annoying

exactly, once a week maby, but every single day is taking the piss.

Then click the X. It takes you less than a second and those people who want to read it can.
Although I do think the announcements should be in the Community Notice Board rather than the Habbox Announcements as it's a competition/event and that's where they go. The important announcements like staff applications opening etc need to go in that Habbox Announcement forum.

The notices hold important information which changes daily. Over the next few days this info will be vastly different. At the end of the day if we didn't create a new dismissable notice every day it would need to be a fixed one which you cannot dismiss.
I'm afraid it's not going to change, there's little reason to change it when all you need to do is dismiss the notice once a day. The old system made a new notice appear every 6 hours and it looked ugly. It's not as though we do it all year round, it's simply for a couple of weeks around the Easter period. I really think you ate nitpicking here as it's really not hard to click 'X'.
@ Mike, the egg hunt announcements are in community notices however the arcade announcements will remain in announcements as they contain very important info about the arcade - just like the main Easter Extravaganza announcement.

like what though?

this recent one contains nothing of any importance relating to the arcade but the winners of the arcade competition. A new games thread could have been made afterwards easily. :)

That thread highlights the new games, the winners are an important part to this as they need to take full credit for the games. As you can see there is only one every few days as we try to group them together.
Habbox Announcements is not just for job openings etc. If something is purely community based it can go in Community Announcements but something that is going to affect a large amount of members deserves a rightful place in main announcements.

we only had force read for important stuff, not 7,000 notices about easter crap i couldn't care less about.

To be fair I find it quite annoying and was contemplating making a thread myself. I've noticed the past few days I've just automatically clicked the X without even looking at it. When there is actually a major rule change, I'm not going to know because I'll of automatically clicked the X (I won't be alone here). It's basically crying wolf constantly and then when there actually is a wolf, no one will believe you. If it was used occasionally for more serious things, I'm sure everyone would pay more attention to it.
Inseriousity.

The notices aren't for serious things though. I can guarantee clicking the X constantly as you do means you won't miss a thing if you're not into competitions/events.

I don't mind the news bulletins (besides on mobile skin, but they don't show up for me anymore there).

You do realise on vb3 the notices changed every 6 hours? We change them every 24 with new information which is clearly valuable to the majority of members as the number of people entering our competitions etc are increasing day by day. Also, yesterday Roxy916 held a giveaway which needed advertising well, therefore the notice was changed hugely for this.
It's easy to notice the notice is for Easter because of the images, so if you don't want to read it, click X, any important notices will be more obvious.

Not when I automatically click X without reading what's on it because it's most probably some silly easter competition that I, nor many other users care for. If the users that wanted to enter competitions, wanted to enter competitions - surely they'd be in the competitions forum. Makes sense to me.
Please change it to important updates only. It is really annoying. Or at least give us the option to automatically turn it off or not show up in the first place.

We give you the dismiss button. You can simply click dismiss :)
Easter is over now anyway lol. I really don't see the problem though, but you never can please some people, but I'd say this has pleased more than the minority in this thread.

People who haven't registered who visit the forum will also see them and realise there is something going on that they can get involved with. It's a dismissable message that takes you less than a second to close.
I don't honestly see how this is such an abhorrent infringement of your forum usage. In the past we were complained at about how we didn't do enough to promote events and competitions and in doing just that we now get people complaining further.

Apart from the recent threads in this very forum congratulating the events team and the competitions staff for excellence?
EXAMPLE 1

There is also another thread in here specifically praising the events department on their work but I can't find it because it only goes back 5 pages (another thing that needs changing imo).

My only idea is to promote competitions more with the help of Forum Management.
I can't think of any decent ideas right now apart from having a notification at the top weekly (like the one which appeared today for forum rules) and/or asking Admins to promote competitions in their signatures - as prizes are Forum VIP / Reputation a lot of the time.
The noticeboard is a good way of advertising. If you don't like it, click the X. It doesn't require much effort.

Thanks for the fantastic input that hasn't at all been replicated in this thread. At all.
ON TO THE QUOTE. IT SAYS "WEEKLY" NOT "HOURLY" OR "DAILY".
I'd be fine with weekly. It's just literally every time I log on. I think this morning is the only time I havn't had to click there, even though my cursor immediately went to that spot.

And for another user they may have well gone to that spot looking for the next arcade tournament time or information on what events are happening today.

It's been replicated because it's common sense.
It's probably only been daily because it's Easter, I'm sure once that dies down, it'll become weekly.
the only time i noticed the bunny arcade thing was when there was a spam thread because i got so sick of the notices i just x'd them without reading them
and when i saw the tourni... it was full of admins

For some reason, when you delete a notice that appears, it only appears for a matter of seconds though, usually if you refresh it disappears.
