I decided to join the register and thought I'd ask if anyone else has thought about this?

I had one thing when registering because I'd want my organs to go to people who truly deserves it rather than someone who's caused their own fate but after a long think I joined and im pleased that I did :D

Next step for me is to donate blood (:

So yeah are you on the register? ever thought about it?

To be honest.... I don't see why you wouldn't want to be one.. Not like its any use to you when you're dead and you can save someone else's life :l

I wouldnt mind but when you die your body is supposed to be at peace, resting in the grave, not getting slashed up :/

Everyone who dies gets slashed up. Their just taking bits which other people need to live.

Only thing I don't want them taking is my eyes.

I haven't signed up but I do keep meaning to. I see no reason to be keeping my organs when I die. I like the idea that my death can at least benefit someone and maybe give them a renewed life.

If I could save somebody's live even by donating part of an organ when I'm alive I would.

My life's not more important than someone else's, so if I can help them, why shouldn't I?

I will join when i am old enough i think that you should have to give them unless you sign something. Not the other way around because what are you going to do with them when you're dead? They could save so many lives.

yeahh totally they can take what they want, its not as if i'll need them. id prefer to die knowing that i could be helping someone in a major way when im not even alive.. i cant see why you wouldnt want to?

Been registered for a while. If I died and they could give my (hopefully) healthy organs to someone who needs them I'd be happy.

I am registered as a close relative of mine's organs were gifted on death and it saved at least 3 people including one young mother of 3 who had a terminal liver problem so I would urge all to sign up. :)

in Canada when you get your drivers license you're given the appropriate forms to register for organ donation. Is it a similar setup in the UK?

You don't need them if you are dead and if it saves someone else, then I don't see a problem in giving it to them.

I would only sign up if I could stipulate who I wanted to exclude :o (No drunks, no drug addicts, no criminials, no health tourists, no politicians, no left wingers, no labour supporters, no football fans from the teams I dont like, no benefits claimers, no guardian readers, no slobs, no smokers, no people who caused an accident to need an organ) Looks like I am keeping all mine. My list is a little exagerated but you get the point lol I would hate to looking down from heaven to see Ian Huntley getting one of my organs to replace one of his that has had a knife through it.

Its not a nice way to think about it but I am sure if there were options on the form of who you did not want to have an organ there would be a lot more donators. Look at George Best having the new liver (I think he did pay for it) but he also killed that off and imagine if it went to somebody else who needed it and not through alchohol abuse :o they could be here now enjoying their extended life but instead it got pickled like his natural liver.
