Hello.

I have roughly around £700 pounds and possibly go up to around £900 maybe £1000 if your really pushing it lol :(

I will be building it either tho I never built one before

I wish to upgrade it so it must be upgradeable. First thing first is I want a massive case, I want lots and lots of space of hard drives. It must have two disc drives. Possible if it can have one blue ray read and write. (I can buy this later on).

Speed is what I need here, Im looking for a good CPU and lots of RAM.

I also need a graphics card, would be great if it was best for HD watching.

I dunno what else to say, post below and I answer some questions.

What are you going to be using it for? I understand wanting a fast computer but you can get a computer that's plenty fast enough for ~£500, anything more than that is in bare gaming PC territory

Encoding movies, watching blue ray movies, school work, gaming such as cod6 and arma.

I looking basically for huge space and will be able to watch HD/blueray movies to perfection.

You can watch HD movies on netbooks these days, any reasonable discrete graphics card should handle it no problem. Encoding movies is another story however, especially if you want it done quick :P

Do you need an OS, monitor, keyboard, mouse, USB vibrator?

You can encode movies quick enough on any quad core nowadays.

Just get a Core i5, 6GBs RAM, x2 BD-RW drives, a couple of 1/2TB (are these out yet?) drives and an ATI 5xxx series card in an Antec 300 case. I recommend Corsair PSUs.

Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional, a nice 24" monitor, Logitech G25 keyboard or whatever the latest is, a Logitech gaming mouse of some kind.

I want a bigger case than that please.

I don't need OS software, screen or a keyboard and mouse atm lol!

Oh I dont need a USB vibrator either!!!!!

Why don't you pay someone to build one for you :)?

Go for a specialist company. If you've not built one before, I wouldn't want to break a £900 computer......

Yeah, saying that though. I built my PC using youtube for tuts LOL.

For encoding movies I would recommend skipping the i5 and going i7 since they support hyperthreading which encoding programs love.

Didn't think HyperThreading really helped with anything nowadays, oh well! Learn something new each day I guess :P

How big a case do you want? For all we know you may want something like http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-175-LL !! :P

Quite silly that it is that massive and does not even support extended ATX mobos lol.

If you really want room for a lot of HDDs then get a server case? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134806

Same here. It's pretty simple stuff.

I'd go for something like this but I'm really no expert at picking the right parts in a rush;

That gives you the potential to get a totally awesome graphics card in the future and upgrade to Blu-Ray. The motherboard seems pretty futureproof supporting upto 24GB of RAM so that can be easily upgraded and 650W should be enough.

- Excellent CPU
- 6GB RAM should be plenty, easy to upgrade should more be needed
- 30GB SSD, install your OS onto it and you'll boot very quickly :D, for all your other files there's a fast 1.5TB HDD.
- Graphics card should have no trouble with HD although for some mad gaming you'd probably want to upgrade.

I know it loads quicker - But is there any need at all in the SSD? It just adds £100..

And i7

Thats better for overclocking on air (so i've read) and its cheaper

And the case

£68 (If you live in england)

£68 (If you live in england)Hmm I don't know how you couldn't have a SSD if you were spending a £1000 on a computer built around speed. A fast hard-drive will make a big and noticeable difference. If not an SSD, then 2X1TB HDDs in RAID 0.

Tbh, *I* personally.. See the SSD as a dead weight.

And dont they start loosing their speed after a while?

Recursion

I wouldn't buy an SSD now, they're gunna fall in price massively and the tech will only get better.

I must admit, building a computer does look complicated, especially with Recursion's first post.

I do have to admit, My computer build was quite easy. To the start it was very hard because it woulnt turn on.

Once you have it all in place then its extremely easy. Just do 1 step at a time,

When you start doing it. Your instincts will just tell you where that wire goes because of the shape of the connecter etc.

My computer is going nicely and im thinking about when i have bought my 22" HD Monitor, Im thinking about upgrading Processor and RAM.

Scrap the SSD, spend the extra cash on http://www.ebuyer.com/product/195146 for Blu-Ray. Seeing as it does everything else a DVD-RW drive does, you may as well have the one drive, in which case, you'd be spending only £20 extra.
