It was one of Google's April Fools jokes.Turns out they tried to make it look like a joke but it's actually genuine (As I suspected ;)). Google have done that before, Google Mail was released on April 1st and everyone thought that was a joke, 5 years down the line, who's laughing now? :P

On April 1, 2010, Google Street View received a new feature to toggle anachrome 3D images. It can be enabled by clicking on the orange Street View icon, now depicting a man that is wearing Red/Cyan glasses. The 3D is genuine, with the red/cyan offset being greater for closer objects.

Now its gone "/ Due to glitches apparently...Yeah it was useless from whenever I used it, I tried it in loads of cities and the lines were all out of place. You could just about make out somethings in 3D but it seemed a bit off. I was using 3D glasses I got in a cinema, presumably it is meant to be work with them? :P

Haha, you tried the cinema glasses? I'm not surprised it didn't work then! :P
