View Full Version : MSN Problems +15 Rep (and my eternal gratitude)
Hey guys.
I have something of an issue. Earlier today MSN was refusing to sign in on my laptop. I explored the issue, and the error code said that I needed to get the latest version of MSN. I went onto the MSN website and downloaded the installer, but it wouldn't let me download MSN because I "already had it". For this reason I thought I would remove MSN first. For some reason it wasn't appearing on the uninstall programs list, so I physically removed it from the Hard Drive in the Windows Live folder.
I tried to download it. It continued to say I already had it.
I restarted. It continued to say I already had it.
Now I don't know what to do :(. Help! This is really urgent, so the sooner the better :)
Happy Easter guys

omg I had the exact same problem, I can't remember how I fixed it though
But put it this way, if I did it then it's not a hard job :)
That at least gives me some hope. I am using this thing called "Zap Messenger" at the moment but I don't seem to be having much luck :(.

Could always use CCleaner to clean up the registry to see if it has left anything behind.

Use CCleaner to remove the registry entries for WLM then try installing again.
I've done that... reinstalled, and now it is coming up with the same problem. I just can't sign in. Error code 81000306.

Have you tried everything on this page: http://messenger-support.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!8B3F39C76A8B853F!13932.entry
I've done all of that and it still isn't working :(

Perhaps some naughty person froze your msn? Use Ebuddy for time being. I had this prob and used CCleaner and worked :S
Knowing you Garion, you've probably just spelt your name wrong in your e-mail addy. pftt :P Or put a comma instead of a full stop (.co,uk) lmaoo
That'd be v. funny (:
Er, try signing in with another account (presuming you have another account!)
If that works, sign out and try sign in on your prefered account.

Try telling it to run in compatibility mode for Windows 2000, that's what I do here so I can use msn 7.5 because it allows it to run without attempting to update (presumably because Windows 2000 can't run WLM or something)

Have you fixed it yet before I use my magic and fix it for you?
It's fixed now. Miraculously just started working. I posted a support thread on the WLM forum and it got fixed quick time. There are literally hundreds of threads / post expressing the same problem on there though, so I think they've got a big problem on their end. Thanks for all your help guys :).
