Well a couple of weeks ago my dad told me he'd fostered a 9-year old girl, until now I've just found out, its a ******* dog! He put me through all that, I didn't even want him to foster and after all that he tells me, and it wasn't even from him, my brother had to find out - then tell me. And now my dad expects me to take it as a joke and get on with my life and keep going to his house, am I right to be annoyed?

I suppose you are right to be a bit annoyed with how worked up you got about it. But let's face it, look on the bright side, he didn't foster anybody and you get a dog to play with :D

LMAO if you are being serious then you realy do have problems.

I'm not being funny but this is a joke, get a sense of humour. You believed it and should of been happy regardless of it being a dog or a real girl.

I've gone through all that, he's put me through that, and now he says its a joke. And he expects me to go and just get on with it, and he also told me to get a new dad because I didn't want to go because for 4 weeks I thought he'd fostered.

There are a great deal worse things in life that you could have gone through than that. It is certainly not the worse thing in the world by any means and not worth fighting with your Dad over. I am sure he now realises that it was a joke that went too far so I would forgive and forget.

I'm really confused. :S

Did you not have a suspicion that your 'fostered' sister looked incredibly like a dog? Or am I still on the wrong track?
Please enlighten me more. :D

You need to get a sense of humor. It's a dog. Dogs are one of the greatest things ever, get over it.

this is coming from someone with a great sense of humour (obv ;l)

your dad sounds like a childish, insensitive man. you're right to be annoyed, it doesn't look as though he planned on telling you and even if he did weeks is a very long time to lie about something like that. it's playing with your emotions and he should have known better, if my dad did something like that to me i'd nevere trust him or take him seriously. don't listen to the people who tell you to get a sense of humour or get over it, if you can handle a lie like that then good for you but for some of us it means much more. i wouldn't ignore him or stop seeing him i'd just make sure he knew it annoyed me but i'm sure you'll find the funny side soon, no point baring a grudge over that

i remember the thread you made and this is hilarious imo it's a joke get one with life and i thought you would be happy? You don't have to share your dad with anyone other than a lovely dog. If my dad got me a dog i would be happy. Besides what's wrong with fostering. They don't have any parents and you don't want to share one of your? selfish.

I haven't wanted to go for a long while because I thought he'd fostered & for another reason, but thats sort of really personal, and now I feel like I'm just gonna go back after all the nasty things he's said.

Agreed. It's funny for the others cos it hasn't happened to them but that's just one of the worst pranks I've ever heard of. However, what's done is done and the best thing you can do now Gibs is to move on and try to see the funny side (easier said than done though).

Agreed. If my dad did that to me i would be annoyed like you, Gibs. For all those people telling you to take it as a joke - i think they need to get a grip on life because clearly that is not a funny joke.

And fostering generally is for couples without children, i wouldn't like sharing my life, home and family with someone i didn't even know. And that is in NO way selfish.

I don't agree with the people who are saying to lighten up, that it was a harmless joke. I'd be furious if one of my parents did that to me! You have a right to be angry. He should have told you sooner that he was joking.

Actually no, it's funny to me because i don't take life seriously. If this happened to me, i'd have more respect for my dad ebcause usually his jokes are ****. Gibs, please just grow up, even if you are only young. It's YOUR OWN FAULT. You made the decision not to go round and therefore you didn't realise it was a dog.

Don't you think it;s a tad selfish on your part to not even attempt to visit your dad just ebcause you thought he had a daughter. What if he did? You were just going to ignore him?

As far as he knew, you would come round soon and see a dog and be surprised, heck he probably thoguht it would be a good surprise. If you get so worked up over something like this, god help you in life.

'Your dad fostered (meaning adopted?) a dog and you thought it was a sister?' - lol

Tbf didn't you think it was a bit out of the blue that he decides to foster a 9 year ld girl?

And he wasn't lying to you - you just misunderstood.

Gibs960

How did I misunderstand, he told me it was 9 year old girl, he didn't say he'd got a dog, he said he'd fostered a girl, so how in any way have I misunderstood?

Its your own fault you should of gone round and then you would of realised.

How was your dad to know you wouldnt come round for so long? It was a harmless joke.

Dad: Hey young gibs i've adopted a 9 year old little girl
Gibs: Oh dad thats nice
Dad: yeh when you next coming up (thinking to self; when he does he'll see this beauty and be well happy)
Gibs: Soon dad (thinking to self; **** NO HES GOT A GIRL OMG IM NEVER GOING UP I CANT TAKE THIS)
Dad: Alright see you soon, love you lots, send my love to everyone.
Gibs: Cya mate love you too (makes kiss sound)

Phone hangs up

Weeks pass and gibs still doesnt bother to visit dad, dad thinks nothing of it, maybe he's busy.

Gibs bro: Yo gibs you seen dads new dog
Gibs: *** you on about idiot
Gibs bro: yeh you not seen it its well cute
Gibs: no he never told me he said he got a 9 yealr old girl
Gibs bro: yeh its a 9 year old girl dog
Gibs: Oh (thinking to self: **** me my dad owned me with that i best make a huge deal out of it)
Gibs bro: yeh go and see it its cool
Gibs: no i cant bare to see him after this.

Seee what i mean?
