I don't think fansites will cease to exist, it will be a challenge for all though, especially with regards to rare values.
But for events etc, I see this as a new adventure for fansites.

LOL true, its just gonna be like... Habbox trying to sell itself to other countries. I think if anything, fansites will benefit alot (and some wont since theyll be so crap) cuz theyll get more users from diff countries.

Yeah I think it could be beneficial for events, the help desk, competitions & the forum.
It's rare values who are gonna have to start from scratch though and try to win over 3/4 of a hotel they don't cater for.

Okay so I'll be the first to admit it's not ideal for us as a fansite. Nevertheless I think, if played correctly, this could be hugely beneficial. It's a challenge that Habbox should and will embrace. When you think about it we already have a dedicated fanbase and with a merger of such major hotels we could be looking at a massive influx of new members not only to the forum but to all of our fansites. Whether or not the chances of official status remains, we will continue to operate as a dedicated fansite not only for Habbo UK but for this new super-Habbo, or whatever you want to call it.
I think if we do a good job we can continue to be an immensely strong fansite that will continue to do well. If we go about it the right way, this could even extend Habbox's, and all the other fansites', shelf life! Sulake have obviously realised they need to change with the times and we will need to do so too.

If Habbox can work really hard at doing millions of events, giveaways, more official popular rooms etc then this could be an amazing chance for Habbox. It could become a HUGE site.
Best way to do it would be to go around really popular rooms, like casino etc and get them to have Habbox in their room name or description and in return but a Banner on the Habbox site to help them get popular too. You can then branch out to popular USA rooms and so on and so forth, get Habbox more coverage, it'll need loads to survive.

Exactly my thoughts, no need to panic - just embrace it and work through the problems
If habbox wanna survive with their rare values they should look at updating there values page to meet the standards for the USA rare value site

A word of advice I think would be to try and get connection with 'foreign' hotels NOW. Like casinos and stuff show off habbox and try and get them to start advertising us now. Then it won't be as bigger shock for international users.

^^ Why would you replicate the Habbo USA rare values. Everything is still fuzzy in terms of whether furniture will be connected through the hotel or the values. But yeh all in all it could actually serve us quite well at the end of the day.

That would actually look pretty nice along with all the features we have in store for you. (Well not a lot)
I think the Rare Values Department will need to be on standby to start changing the rare values according to how they change in the merger. I don't think they'll scrap habbo fansites, most of the habbo users only use habbo because of a fansite - and if they did get rid of fansites I think they'd soon bring them back, also imo they'll just look habbo staff will just not mention fansites as much in news such as fansite fortnight will probably be stopped if it happened and stuff like that would be stopped, not the whole fansite idea and plus they won't close them, they can't think of the cost of the sites the owners won't just stop.

Which hotels are actually merging? Sorry I am mile behind where Habbo is concerned.
I think Habbox's time as non official were by far the best in its history :o The news had a lot more freedom on reporting and there were some great stories and investagitive reporting on many contoversial things. I remember the days when people would rush to read the news because there were some great stories reported which used to get the old console bleeping. I think this will give the reporters that little bit of freedom with less concern of offending a multi national company who will have less of a bargaining/blackmail tool. Habbo as a company do not give a stuff about the fansites who have put so much more back in to habbo than it has ever got out of it and never did.
Habbo only decided to have the official sites so they had a hold over all fansites who were or wanting to be official. Habbo introduced more and more silly/strict rules for everybody to follow which made a lot of sites lose their edge.
This is the best news I have heard for some time so lets hope it is the end of the official do as you are told or else dictatorship.
See it as an opportunity rather than a challenge.

TY for that Mr Garner :)
I just had a read up about it and all sounds fun lol They do say all the accounts will be copied over so nobody will lose names. I did say years ago it would be nice if you could walk outside the hotel and in one next door (all hotels on 1 street) and have a UK badge or a USA badge etc so all user names can still be used. Habbo UK must easily have the most furni so I would expect the other hotels to adopt more of the UK values :o There will be a lot of work for the staff to do especially in the rare values but its a great opportunity for Hx to move up to a higher level which currently does not exist.

I think that the rare values will be what will attract users to use a new fansite more than anything else once the merge occurs and it will definately require a lot of time to get everything to work out. On the 12th April, .com and .ca are merging so we can find out what happens in terms of furniture but the FAQ (http://habbo.ca/help/104) says they are aware of furniture values with their STATs and they say they will make the origin of furniture clear.

No Molly, if this happens, Habbox WILL be fine. I think this is a great oppurtunity for Habbox to widen their fan-base. Yes, of course it will be hard to adapt - especially with all the rare values but if we put effort into Habbox surviving it will come out on top. I was actually pretty happy when I heard that hotels will be merging because I think this will be a great thing for Habbox.

Can I just clarify, Habbox and fansites will still exist... official status fansites won't. All Habbos with the badge at the moment will be given a memorial badge and a gift. Sulake will stop any contribution to the fansites and just have the guidelines, nothing more. Also, I'm not sure why the HF references are relevant, for most of the day our new posts haven't dated as far back as those as HxF and with stats released we're the third most active forum and we've been open 10 weeks, lmao. I don't see why HxF users are determined to make it a competition as I discussed with the Forum Manager earlier, HF is perfectly aware that HxF is streets ahead, it has been open for 6 years as opposed to 10 weeks. I love Habbox and I love HF, there is no need for people (like those with depleted intelligence in this thread) to see it as a threat at this moment in time.

You'd have to check with the current fansite's managers but in my experience a very small amount of referring takes place directly from the official fansite pages anyway. Don't think it'd be any big loss to any of the current (large) official fansites if the whole scheme was dropped.

I cant see them getting far with legal action though so would love to seee it tested :) Habbox is non profit making and also makes considerable donations to charity :o imagine the negative press sulake would get from a court case. It must make Sierk very proud to know that all the years of helping promote a game free of charge that they turn out to be a bunch of bullies who try/tried their best to make the bigger fansites collapse through lack of finances as they must have thought they were getting to powerful.
They can shove their fansite way. We should have challenged them when they seriously broke the Data Protection Act and lost every habbo account from day ones details / passwords / phone number (if that account bought creds) / Financial info / Emails and much more. I am pretty disgusted how they behave towards the people who have done way more to promote them than they ever have themselves and all for FREE grrrrrrrrrrr

We are onto it and have worked out a plan, as soon as new hotel is launched (and when we have information regarding the US/CA merge) then we will start work. I don't really want to say much though because I know other fansites who provide values are on the lookout on what to do next, although if it all goes according to what we think it will turn out like at the moment then we should have a pretty strong start and will be ahead of the game.

Wait, what? Must be a sign that Habbo is slowly crashing and burning :P It was bound to happen - they hate their users, they make too many hotels most with barely any users, and they waste their money on stupid things. They're not closing their doors if they're keeping the American domain and there are more likely a surplus of American users compared to that of other nations.

If Habbo is merging hotels it is because it is losing its popularity so needing to cost cut. I imagine they cant list all the official sites from all over the world so will let the weak die before deciding if its worth restarting an official list. I think the majority of fansite workers would have quit habbo years ago if they did not have that extra intrest generated from working on a fansite doing things they love like dj'ing, writing, reporting, events etc. With the fansites there are a lot of people who have benefitted greatly by learning new skills which have become much needed as they move on with their lives.
Within the summer, Habbox's interaction will be most likely more than any fansite will be or is at the moment.
For the mean time, we need Jin online.

Fat chance of that happening.

I swear I got told it's coming next week, but then again that was weeks AGO. Jin is actually NEVER online, I don't see why we couldn't of got someone ACTIVE who actually comes ONLINE.

Habbo must be dropping numbers... Sulake used to publish how many Habbos/users they received each year, now they don't seem to do that - well, they do but they don't brag as much.

With the merge, we are redoing the way rare values are displayed. It will be here before the merge.

And that is pretty much a priority I would guess. Addressing the biggest need.

What an ignorant post. Jin has done SO much for Habbox - he deserves his place.

Will be interesting to see if the panel does come, after ll it was going to be released in January (mind you it was supposed to be released years ago haha). I don't doubt Habbox will do a good job after the merge, everyone says we will fail - but Habbox must have done something right to get to where it is now..

In fairness Jin does a lot behind the scenes and indeed, his position is that of owner and nothing else, so technically he need not do anything at all apart from deal with finances and such like.
