View Full Version : What is your political alignment?

So, first write your political alignment in a post, then go on the below site:

http://www.votematch.org.uk/2010/index.php

It asks you questions based on the opinions of different parties, namely Lib Dems, Conservatives, Green Party, Labour, BNP & UKIP (so something for everyone). I was going to vote the Conservatives when I voted this may. My result put Conservatives 3rd out of 6 places... I think this will spark some seriousl debate, especially amongst the politically involved members of the forum.

It also asks you on your priorities, based on most important & least important (you can choose many). It takes at most about 3 minutes to complete. Make sure to click all of the parties at the end so that you get a open result. The result is given in a percentage btw... You can screenshot if you like to make it more interesting.

Lets get some debating started :)

Well my family is traditionally labour but recently my dad has changed to lib dem. I've never really taken an interest in politics but both my brother and dad discuss it quite alot, so some of it rubs off on me.

From the thingy it said:

Labour: 59%
Conservative: 56%
Lib Dem: 52%
Green: 43%
UKIP: 32%
BNP: 19%

pretty close with the first 3. oh well, won't actually have to vote for a while yet.

Might as well post my results... I was seriously surprised with this, since I was gonna vote Conservatives. Might still, but yeah:

BNP: 74%
UKIP: 59%
Conservative: 44%
Liberal Democrats: 34%
Green: 26%
Labour: 21%

Surprised much.

British National Party (http://www.votematch.org.uk/2010/index.php?s=partyresults&p=34): 72% (If conservative fail to win this election all future votes will be UKIP or BNP just as a protest)

UK Independence Party (http://www.votematch.org.uk/2010/index.php?s=partyresults&p=5): 64% (Good luck)

Conservative Party (http://www.votematch.org.uk/2010/index.php?s=partyresults&p=2): 46% (This could be the last vote you get from me)

Labour Party (http://www.votematch.org.uk/2010/index.php?s=partyresults&p=21): 22% (thats way to high :s)

Liberal Democrats (http://www.votematch.org.uk/2010/index.php?s=partyresults&p=3): 19% (wonderful lib dems lol)

Green Party (http://www.votematch.org.uk/2010/index.php?s=partyresults&p=4): 17% (tree huggers)

I think this poll is trying to make us all think we have turned in to racists and to vote for gormless gordon.

I'm quite surprised at the results, and have been undecided whether I will vote UKIP or Conservative. My top three results are all extremely close.

Conservative Party: 62%
British National Party: 61%
UK Independence Party: 59%
Labour Party: 25%
Liberal Democrats: 24%
Green Party: 19%

Tash.

I'm sticking with Labour, and will be voting them at this election.

My results:

Liberal Democrats:
55%
Conservative Party:
47%
UK Independence Party:
44%
Green Party:
42%
Labour Party:
41%
British National Party:
37%

Totally wrong clearly, i'd never consider voting for UKIP/BNP in my lifetime, no matter what happened. Surprised at how far up the Conservatives are also, wouldn't vote for them either. I have considered the Lib Dems before though.

British National Party: 55%
UKIP: 48%
Conservative Party: 43%
Labour Party: 40%
Liberal Democrats: 39%
Green Party: 34%

While I was initially pretty disappointed about BNP coming first, the percentages all seem very close together and quite low when compared to other peoples so I'm not that fussed.

It also shows that this "Vote Match" is a load of balls as the three main parties are all within 4% of each other.

I thought there was something very odd about this survey. It seems to heavily favour small parties who have no chance of being elected so I delved deeper and found that this organisation has a manifesto which includes a aim for proportional representation. Link: http://www.unlockdemocracy.org.uk/?p=2334
Neat little trick here a although it does say you should only press the ones that you would consider voting for most have just pressed them all.

When I pressed them all - this came up and considering I am against further devoloution for Wales I am :S
Plaid Cymru: 64%
Liberal Democrats: 60%
Labour Party: 52% Green Party:
51% UK Independence Party:
32% Conservative Party:
26% British National Party:

When I pressed the main parties one of whom I would vote for it came up as this:

Liberal Democrats: 62%
Labour Party: 46%
Conservative Party: 26%

Thought it was a little odd that they kept going on about electoral reform when literally no-one except Dan thinks it's a good idea :P good research there

My results -
British National Party:68%
UK Independence Party:64%
Liberal Democrats:34%
Green Party:33%
Labour Party:24%
Conservative Party:21%

Somewhat odd tbh. UKIP have some good ideas as do BNP on some issues, but it seems strange that Conservatives are at the bottom when they're the most likely for me to vote. Also not sure how I got 33% for Green Party when I don't give two hoots about the environment and global warming. I think this survey gives equal focus to a party's minor policies and major policies (looking at the "party results" page) which doesn't make it very useful really.

I like K.RUDD (labour) over the other new guy (who is the new liberal leader) (this is for the aussie politics) but since the british doesn't bother me (i only know of gordon brown who is PM i think?).

I was fairly surprised when I selected them all;

UK Independence Party: 69%
British National Party: 66%
Conservative Party: 53%
Liberal Democrats: 29%
Labour Party: 18%
Green Party: 16%

Then the main ones I'd consider;

UK Independence Party: 68%
Liberal Democrats: 31%
Green Party: 16%

I guess it confirms my decision not to follow my friends most of who seem to be going Lib Dem. UKIP is the only one I've ever thought I might go for really so I reckon this has been pretty helpful.

No great surprise although it is interesting taking these polls to work out just how rubbish they are. This is the first quiz I've taken that I've ended up as a Liberal Democrat despite being a loyal supporter.
