Hey,
Ive started to get pains on my lower back just above my hip, its currently on the right side of my lower back but I can feel slight pains on the left side starting to occur. I looked it up on the internet and I am thinking it maybe my kidneys, does anyone know what it might be? I know lots of people are going to reply saying go to the doctor but at the moment its the weekend so my local doctor surgery is shut and money is a factor.

Any helpful advice please

Do you have National Health Direct there? Also my Step Dad gets pains there if he has drunk a lot. Something to do with the acid content. Have you tried pain killers? Try drinking quite a bit of water to hydrate and flush through.

1nce a week but I would I have a fair bit

@catzsy
I can't swollow tablets, I haven't all my life, my throat closes once I try to swallow something like tablets, the doctor said its just the mind and he can't do anything.

Do you think it might be the drink? I said to myself tomo night is the last night, normally when I drink allot I get pains all down my left side (chest / arm) I know thats bad but I looked it up and its common to allot of people when they drink alcohol.

I've had this before - it's certainly not a weight issue (or a drink one for that matter), i'm 15, 5"11 and weight 10 stone

I used to spend a lot of time on the p.c, (self-confessed habbo addict at the time) and when i started to cut down & take breaks the pain slowly went away

also a little tip i do after a long day (can be used for this aswell though) - stand straight and tense your legs/knees and then bend over loosely making sure your knees are still tensed. This relaxes all the muscles at the bottom of the back

Have you a fever at all? Because if you haven't it is possible it is just the drink and you if you don't drink it goes away. You haven't pulled a muscle or anything. You can get soluable pain killers too so you don't have to swallow tablets.

I drink quite a lot (too much) and when I do I get pains in my lower back because my kidneys are trying to extract all the poison from the alcohol.

This could be why, over the past few days I've been doing nothing at all just slouching around the house because I have nothing better todo (everyones studying)

I don't have a fever as of yet and I haven't drank alcohol since last saturday, I've had allot of fizzy drinks though.

@Garion
Yeah I was thinking it might be that but I haven't drank since last saturday and the pains started to happen yesterday.

Could be the windy pops then from the fizzy drinks! LOL:) Have a bath and see if it calms down.

Usually that would be natural aches, often from growing pains. if it doesn't pass within a couple of days then thats when you should start getting concerned.

maybe it could be your lower vertebrae they injury easily and take a while to heal because of limited bloody supply. Trapped nerves maybe i know they're very uncomfortable.

That's all i can think of that hasn't been said :)!
