Just did a loading test between Safari and Opera to load HabboxForum on my iPhone, and here are the results (on wifi, until habboxforum.com COMPLETELY loaded) -

Safari - 29 seconds
Opera Mobile - 11 seconds

I am truly amazed by the speed of this App, if you like Opera for desktops then you'll love this, and if you are fed up of the sluggish speeds Safari is offering you, definitely switch to Opera Mobile, it is amazing.

I can't believe Apple actually accepted it into the AppStore to! nice one Apple, good call for once.

It's a shame the way you zoom in is not as good as Safari, thats one thing that really bugs me. If they correct that, I'll use Opera for good.

Doesn't Opera Mini get loaded on another server first, then sent to you?

So run-time scripts wouldn't work?

Idk about scripts but yeah that's how it works. From my experience the sites i've visited have been fully functional though

Everyone is finding ways around it nowadays, for e.g. Motorola Droid, Nexus One etc etc

Yeh but you know what Apple are like with the Approval process. They probably wouldnt allowed it if it had pinch to zoom.

It took them long enough to even approve it didn't they? One time Apple would not even let applications that are similar to what was pre-installed. :P

That's because Steve is a Nazi.

That's because Steve is a Nazi.

You're missing just a few other people there who're most likely to blame for the stupidly rash limitations set against application approval.

I believe it does.. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opera_Mini)

Is it Opera Mini or Mobile that's now on the iPhone?

Unlike ordinary web browsers, Opera Mini fetches all content through a proxy server that reformats web pages into a format more suitable for small screens.[30] A page is compressed, then delivered to the phone in a markup language called OBML (Opera Binary Markup Language).[31] This compression process makes transfer time about two to three times faster[15] and the pre-processing also smooths compatibility with web pages not designed for mobile phones.[32]

Safari uses webkit rendering engine which is one of the most advanced and certainly supports a great deal more in terms of website technologies than opera mini does - for example CSS3.

I prefer the opera interface on my iPod however.

Opera Mini was good on my G1, it's stupid good on my Nexus one. There's more real estate and it launches stupid fast. Wow.

Safari is quite the opposite of IE6, although he was probably joking?

Opera is pretty nice on my ipod touch :) Dunno why people were crying about there only being 2 zoom levels, anything more or less than the zoon levels it gives you is useless for reading text
