When I build my new system, I'll have a whole new box of parts to play around with, including:

AMD Sempron 2400+ (Socket A)
MSI KM3M-V mATX board (with an IGP)
512Mb RAM
40Gb HDD with XP Pro SP2 (yes, its an OEM version but it's being used with the same mobo)

I'm considering buying a small mATX case and PSU and fitting these parts into it along with an IDE DVD drive, possibly adding a cheap AGP low profile GPU and upping the RAM to 1Gb, then using this as a small media centre for iPlayer, and streaming media from the network (via a Belkin USB Wi-Fi adapter).

Is this worth doing, and can anyone suggest a cheap but stylish case for doing this with?

I can't suggest a case but you could also stick a TV card in there and then you can share the media as folders on the network and you can use Media Center to pick that up, watch TV/DVDs, get iPlayer and all sorts of stuff :P

That's a good idea, but I don't have Media Center on that PC.

Could use XBMC or MythTV, though. I'd have to pick up a cheap PCI TV tuner.

CPU might not be up to scratch depending on hoew you intend on using it.
