I was just thinking, and I think this could really get new users signed up the the forums. What we do is where the search box is for the rare values, you have something like 'Confused about rare values? Sign up to our forum and get help?'. Some people come into HxHD with issues on rare values, but if we directed them to the forum instead they could get help and hopefully stay active.
Thoughts?

we could have that above it or below but i think the search bar is needed. I use it myself to save me looking for rares on the main rv page

I don't really see your idea working Ben. However we do have an image on the rare values pages which links to the forum, we could perhaps change that to something more general about rare values. Something to discuss with the concerned people perhaps. :)

I really think that the site should play on the rare values aspect of the forum, I think Joe has a little advert for the forum on one page saying REPORT RARE VALUES ON HABBOX FORUM.
I think we need to highlight on the site that the forum has a place where you can trade your furni too, as a free alternative to the market place.
It all brings people to the forum, I don't see how you don't think it will work Joe?

If there's users on Habbox on the main page confused about rare values, if there's a little comment above the search box sayin 'Confused about Rare Values? Sign up to habboxofurm.com and get help!' or something like that. With the merge loads of people will be visiting habbox, and instead of coming into HxHD asking for help then leaving, if we got them asking on the forum they might decide to stay. Even if they post in rare values forum only it's better than nothing..

Or just something even more simple. "Talk to our rare values staff on our forum click here" for instance?
@jordy would need to mention the amount of users. encourage them to come if it says something like "hundreds of regular traders"
I personally think this is a really good idea, Ben. I fail to see how this is something that "wouldn't work" really, it's not something that can really break, as such. I think it's a good way to attract new users to the forum, particularly if we are planning on marketing our rare values as the #1 Resource on the new hotel :).

Yea, there could be a link like 'Ever wanted to ask the rare values team a question or two? You can, just click here!'

I normally answer most Rare values questions, i don't mind it, i know alot about them so i think i can give faster and adiquate help then them trying to register on the forum etc etc

Although that is excellent, the point Ben is trying to make is that by directing them to the forum they can speak directly to department staff and importantly, they register on the forum and hopefully stay active - meaning the forum itself gets busier :).

But thing is your not on all the time, and as I said they will come in and then just leave once they have information they need. Also most of the the time people dont trust what we say on habbo. Also there has been about 5people in HxHD today asking about what to do with their rares, I've directed them to Habboxforum, but they won't listen. If its implimented on the site above rare values then they'll go there as the site is trusted and so is the forum therefor

From having a look around before hand I think that the only person who could change this is Jin. It could possibly work but I think that the people who would be having the most trouble with rare values wouldn't understand how to use the search feature or even know that it is there and would be more than likely using the actual pages to find values. So it would make more sense to me to use them pages to get people to sign up to the forum/visit HxHD than to change the information on the search.

Ben clarified and I am pretty sure he didn't mean anything about editing the search :p.

No I know that he didn't mean for the search feature to be altered but for text to be added beneath the search bar. But nothing in that box can be edited via ACP so any information about having issues with rare values couldn't be added.

This can ONLY be a good idea, surely. It'll get some members, even if it's not that many i'm confident it would get a few.
More members can only be good right? Whether they stick around or not, there's always the chance that they will anyway.

With 8.6m hits to the RV pages (around 4000 a day) I don't think that putting promotional material on these pages wouldn't benefit the forum if done correctly.

I can see what you mean.
Thing is, if people cant use the rare values, they will struggle with the forum too initially. When I first joined, I was very confused as to what a forum was and how it worked.
What you could do instead is put up adverts/banners with things such as:
Trade for FREE at HabboxForum.
Trade with over 50,000 Habbos only at HabboxForum
Cant find the furni you are looking for? Try HabboxForum!
Need help with Rare Values? Visit HabboxForum!
Want to become a Rare Value Reporter for Habbox? Report your rare values at HabboxForum!
Save time trading! Use HabboxForum!
Discuss furni and rare values only at HabboxForum!

I had no idea how to use a forum aswell, but we all had to learn at one point. If that link directs them to the rare values section all they have to do is press new thread and sign up.

These adverts can be placed on various places of the site. E.g. a link to news section of the forum on the news section of the site.
The forum needs to be promoted heavily. The site gets thousands of UV a day and we should aim to use that to get the forum more popular.
I have found in the past, if you get 1 popular site, getting the others popular isn't very hard with a lot of promotion. Thats what I did. Get 1 site popular and others automatically became popular due to heavy promotion.

I've never understood why Habbox have never really used the Rare values pages for much more promotional material. It would be such a great boost for anything. Most viewed part of a fansite i would believe. I mean a good way to get Habbox Popular after the merge would be to have an agreement with owners of popular rooms from all different hotel, like trade cities and casinos etc to Put Habbox.com in there room description and in return Habbox puts a small banner on the Rare values page. This way we get exposure to a new community in a new country to start using Habbox instead of a different fansite.
Ye i think something on the rare values page that directs people to the forum is a good idea to help them with their queries :D

Hopefully tonight you will see this rotating 6/8 rooms every few seconds advertising official Habbox rooms + other popular trade rooms i.e. Vintus : Venial : Wexen : zLimez.

Also, we hope that this either tonight or within the next couple of days to be rotating several of the points made by Saurav (Dander).
