Give me some good metal bands please :)
Good is down to opinion, and there's tons of different genres of metal. Black, death, avant-garde, power. Personally, I hate most power metal as bands like Dragonforce annoy the Hell out of me, the vocals sound really queer and the music kinda sounds samey to me, but Dragonforce are probably low tier in power metal. Really not sure what kind of metal you want, I'd recommend you some of what I listen to (mostly black/symphonic/melodic/avant-garde) but I don't think it'd be your thing judging by your last fm? May be wrong though..

IRON MAIDEN.
IRON MAIDEN.
Ye, I think he's probably looking for that kind of metal. Looked on his last fm and he's been listening to Metallica lately.

Bullet for my valentine, CKY, megadeth, etc are decent
As Axel said, you looking for any genres in particular? I could give you a lot of bands but my metal collection ranges from pop-metal to death metal.
Some metal in the middle I guess would be Avenged Sevenfolds later albums, Iron Maiden and Metallica, or metalcore, which is my preferred genre which is a blend of heavier metal with melodic lyrics, examples being Dead By April, As I Lay Dying (An Ocean Between Us) and Atreyu.
Then you have the heavier metal like Cannibal Corpse, Slipknot and stuff like that, it's really dependant on what you're looking for.
It's almost a must for you to check out Psychostick though, they're hilarious.

Man, I hate Cannibal Corpse.
Man, I hate Cannibal Corpse.
Me too, I hate death metal and black metal, really terrible. xD
I love some symphonic/melodic black metal, hate Cannibal Corpse though.
Even if some of the vocals are horrible, I find some of the music in symphonic and melodic really ******* catchy.
Stuff like the intro to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hytF8O29EFQ, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-hsa1a7kyM, etc. To each his own though, I guess.
Heard of Dimmu Borgir before, I like some of the instrumentals sections of death metal but I just can't listen to the vocals, it's just aweful, better than Bring Me The Horizon though. ¬¬
I dunno, I find (most) Dimmu vocals tolerable, but Cannibal Corpse is the ******* worse when it comes to vocals. Or anal ****, but the band is filtered on here.
I prefer the sort of vocals you get from metalcore bands, can range from Atreyus screamo vocals to the heavy vocals of As I Lay Dying, two of my favourite bands. :P
Edit - A band you NEED to check out is Five Finger Death Punch, their style is similar to that of Slipknots but more political.
Used to love screamo **** a few years back - BFMV in particular, but I had to delete it from my music library eventually.

Another band I used to like, but after listening to them so many times the vocals got on my ****.
Oh another one? Black Dahlia Murder. SUCH AWFUL VOCALS.
Think I'm finding a pattern: I hate screams that are high pitched/whiny in songs, BMFV, Children of Bodom, Black Dahlia Murder, Cannibal Corpse, etc . The stuff I like is more low pitched and grunted or something.
Nice to have a metal conversation for once, 99% of this forum and the population of the world listens to **** like Lady Gaga. :<
Oh, but I'm not just black metal. I also love Avenged Sevenfold, M Shadows is a ******* awesome vocalist.

I don't mind some screamo it's just the aweful kicked in the balls screamo I hate.
BFMV are good but only on The Poison tbh, some of Scream Aim Fire is ok but not as good.
Also agree, I don't mind the generic pop music sometimes but rock/metal is real music.
Edit - Yes, M. Shadows is probably one of the most powerful vocalists of the decade, he has such an amazing range.

Metal is so god awful. I don't want to sterotype/generalise, but a lot of it is just the same quickly played high notes, with long intros, long songs and terrible vocals. BFMV is an extremely good example of this.

And you shouldn't stereotype/generalise, as metal has a huge range and isn't confined to crap like BFMV.

Please stop Chris. :(
To be honest you can sterotype all music somehow, there is no exceptions.
Pop all sounds like computer generated garbage.
"Indie" all sounds like The Who or The Beatles
Rap all sounds like Run DMC, just a little more violent over the years.
In all honestly metal has more range than any of them genres, you get metal that has soft vocals but heavy intrumentals, you get metal that has mid-range intrumentals and a combination of soft and heavy vocals, sterotypically metal is "RAWRRAWRRAWRRAWR".
But sterotypically all RnB is black chicks with big butts and pop is girls and gay guys with a computer doing 90% of the work.
Edit - Scratch that, Samsabear listens to Bring me the Horizon, his opinion is invalid.

Oh I totally agree with it having a wide range, I mean Metalcore is definitely my favourite genre of all time. Metal, as in, stand alone metal, is just awful. I can't speak for all the sub-genres because I don't give them the time of day, but metal is just so boring to listen to.
Also herp derp Bring Me The Horizon. Original hating there.

Well at least you like metalcore.
Also I'd say it's pretty original, I've always hated that band, not only can't Oli Sykes sing but they also covered Eyeless by Slipknot and did a HORRIBLE job, they also make metal look bad, I can't wait for them to get bottled at Sonisphere. :)

Does anyone else hare it when you start listening to a song that sounds pretty cool, then the lyrics kick in and it's just screamo? ;l

Haha, thats happened to me so much. I stumble across a song or get recommended something, I start listening... sounds pretty good so far... then suddenly the vocalist just starts screaming nonsense and I'm left devastated. Such a nice sound ruined. :(

Yep, I find that happens alot and it's annoying because it's normally always the horrible kinds of screamo.

Doesn't matter, I hate that band either way, it's not like I'm part of some sort of BMTH hatred collective, they're rubbish and anyone that likes them doesn't deserve to say any music is bad.

Your ignorance astounds me

Not really bothered by what you say, as I said before, the opinion of people that listen to that band means nothing to me, the fact they will be playing like 3 or 4 miles from my house is enough to make me actually leave the town during the course of Sonisphere.

You listen to some of the worst music my ears have ever been introduced to. Reminded me of 50 Pence if I'm honest.

If that's in reference to my Slick Rick suggestion then you can't claim to be much of a music critic - 50 Cent and Slick Rick are nothing alike, and if you really did mean 50 Pence (as in the parody rapper) then you're even further off. Good job on reinforcing my comment.

Comparison can be done with any type of genre.

Quite true, but your choice of artists are only at all alike in that they are both rappers - their voices, lyrical style, delivery, beats, era, and label are all very different. It's like saying Walls of Jericho remind you of Black Sabbath because they're both metal of some sort.
