View Full Version : Toronto Disaster
A passenger jet is in flames after apparently skidding off the runway at Toronto's Pearson airport.
Few details are known, but emergency vehicles are on the scene. There is no word on whether there are any casualties.
Live television pictures show flames and smoke billowing from the aircraft in a tree-filled area near the airport.
Severe thunderstorms and heavy winds in the Toronto area have been causing numerous flight delays and cancellations Tuesday.

It was an Air France Airbus 340.

The aircraft, arriving in Toronto on a scheduled passenger flight from Paris, touched down on runway 24L (9000x200ft) at 4:04pm local time. The aircraft was unable to stop on the runway, and was then observed to run off the end, coming to rest in a shallow gully about 600 feet from the runway 06R threshold with its fuselage split into several pieces. Approximately four minutes later, the Airbus erupted in flames and the fuselage was engulfed shortly thereafter. Weather at the time of the crash was poor, with heavy thunderstorms, including torrential rain, gusty winds, and lightning in the immediate vicinity of the airport. All 297 passengers and 12 crewmembers escaped the aircraft without major injury.
Thank you to www.airdisaster.com for information above.
Frankly i'm not surprised it's air france, I've always known they're not the most trust worthy airliner

Everyone was actually freed from the aircraft before camera crews were even on site to film. But look at the WTC there you hadd CNN filming people jumping out of a building that was burning. The reason it makes TV is because the general population do want to see these things, thats news.
