It begins on 30th April 2010 :).

Groups are:

http://i44.tinypic.com/256wk0n.png

The top two seeded teams are allocated slots in the Super Eight stage regardless of where they finish in their group. The Super Eight stage is not determined on winners and runners-up.

For example, Pakistan are designated A1 and Bangladesh A2 in their group. If they both qualify then, regardless of who wins the group, Pakistan will go into Group E and Bangladesh Group F. If, however, Australia qualifies instead of, say, Bangladesh, they will take their designation as A2 and move into Group F.

This has been done so that supporters who buy Super Eight tickets can be assured of knowing who they will be watching - assuming their team qualifies!

Each team will play every other team in its group.

No points from the Group stage will be carried forward to the Super Eight series.

The top two teams from each group in the Super Eight series of the competition will progress to the semi-finals where the team placed first in Group E will play the team placed second in Group F and the team placed first in Group F will play the team placed second in Group E.

The winners of the semi-finals will contest the final.

I am sure its decided by the rank you came in the last T20 World Cup. Australia didn't even qualify from the Group Stages last time, so that explains why.

Looking forward to this, few of our sussex boys out there (wright and yardy) saying that must make CC or CB40 thread soon, 4/4 for sussex so far.

Going to be a good tournament. Can't see Pakistan winning it again though. West Indies got some big hitters, wouldn't surprise me to see them win it. India have to do better than that aswell. Having seen the IPL and some of the players they have that I hadn't really heard of, they're good in that format.

Some of the Indian players were in great form in the IPL so hopefully they will be able to do well in the World Cup.
Tbh its very hard to predict who will win. No one thought India would win the first one. Pakistan qualifying to Super 8's last year was doubtful but they ended up winning it.

England lost to WI because if D/L method.

Paul Collingwood says: "We're very, very frustrated, 95% of the time 191 runs is enough but with D/L it wasn't. They need a different calculation."

Oh my. They said how good it is when they beat West Indies and South Africa last time because of it. "/. Stop moaning if you lose.

It's a strange system. They're both pretty much neck and neck at 6 overs.

It's a strange system. They're both pretty much neck and neck at 6 overs.

Although its not a fair system and people have made better ones, I dont think teams should say its fair when they win and unfair if they lose.

Either way, England did amazingly well. 191 is not easy and they could have won. Anyway, I still think they will trash Ireland and easily get in Super 8's.

Weird how England made 191 against WI but WI managed to trash Ireland and get them all out for something like 68.

Anyone else think the format is ****? I know there's not many teams in it but 3 to a group is crap. Should be 2 groups of 6, top 2 progress with 1st playing 2nd of the other group. Could do 5th/6th place matches for a laugh. Why not.

slightly off topic but I love your Manifesto, however I did try to get a separate 'football sub-forum' some time back, no one listened, and many of the people in the sports forum rubbished it and said no, I hope you get it through though! makes sense.

England have won the toss and will bowl, Ryan Sidebottom keeps his place. For Pakistan, Mohammad Asif returns, which is very good news. Those selectors have seen sense, eventually.

The teams look like this:

Pakistan 1 Salman Butt, 2 Kamran Akmal (wk), 3 Shahid Afridi (capt), 4 Abdul Razzaq, 5 Misbah-ul-Haq, 6 Mohammad Hafeez, 7 Umar Akmal, 8 Fawad Alam, 9 Mohammad Asif, 10 Mohammad Aamer, 11 Saeed Ajmal.

England 1 Michael Lumb, 2 Craig Kieswetter, 3 Kevin Pietersen, 4 Paul Collingwood (capt), 5 Eoin Morgan, 6 Luke Wright, 7 Michael Yardy, 8 Tim Bresnan, 9 Graeme Swann, 10 Stuart Broad, 11 Ryan Sidebottom.

Six off the first ball.

0.1 Sidebottom to Kamran Akmal, SIX, goodness me, what a start! Welcome to a bouncing pitch! Dug it short, it climbs on Akmal who rises and smashes a pull away it sails high, and only just over the head of fine leg for six. Very close, but good start

Dhoni needs a slap for picking Jadeja after Australia's game. It wasnt India's day at all.

Jadeja dropped Gayle - very easy catch. Then we dropped him again. His innings changed the whole game. Then Sharma wasn't out and they gave him out.

I thought India was out but with this combination, they have a slight chance.

So it's all but over for India. If Sri Lanka win the next match, India will be out even before they go into their last game. If Australia win, India will stay alive, but will have to beat Sri Lanka on Tuesday and then hope that Australia beat West Indies,

COME ON AUSTRALIA. I LOVE YOU. PLEASE BEAT SRI LANKA AND WEST INDIES.

England beat NZ. England seems to have improved dramatically, impressive! They have made it to the Semi's.

Right, 2 important games for Group F. No ones qualified yet.
Net run rate etc might come into equation today. India better not play Jadeja or I am going to seriously start hating Dhoni.
