Earlier this evening I noticed a number of people being warned for making sexist jokes in HxHD. Whilst I find this rule slightly unusual, I am more than happy to honour it if it was made clear. After checking the rules list I saw nothing about making sexist jokes, or any other jokes for that matter. I asked HotelUser about this and his response was "funnily enough, all the rules aren't on that sticky". Again, this is fair enough. However I think it would be fair to say that there should be a list of rules somewhere (perhaps in the "ask the staff" forum?) for people to refer to. Otherwise, staff might make up rules or there will be confusion as there appears to have been tonight.

What do you guys think?

I agree with you here Garion a lot of people don't know all the rules we have. Also the rules can be quite general and might need clarifying. I'm pretty sure not all the staff at HxHD are 100% sure of the rules.

I don't find sexism funny and it is rude. I saw many people were offended by people being sexist. I swear it's only a joke if the other person finds it funny.

Maybe HxHD rules should be clearer but surely if you get a warning you should stop.

I think it should probably be discussed as to whether sexist jokes should be banned at all, but yeah it should definitely be made clear.

If we infracted someone for a rule on here that wasn't on our rules list we'd get so much crap over it it'd be unreal.

Yeah I would agree here aswell, I would have to say some things such as Sexism could be classed as rude and bullying, just like racism or homophobism, which should also be frowned upon.

I agree we need to put it on the sticky and make it clear but 3 members of management arguing like a bunch of babies in a Habbox public room wasn't going to help, was it? You could of easily sorted it via PM or MSN. And even after David said their not allowed, Oli still carried on.

I ain't really offended by sexist jokes but most people are so I agree, they should be added to the rules.

Many of our visitors or staffmembers find sexism very appauling, I don't think that's a rule I'd recommend changing.

I don't see why we couldn't ask Jin for another sticky, so we could print out a more complete list of rules. Honestly, it's never really been a problem in the past because for the most part the majority of people just behave :P

I was using the sexist jokes (not sexism, as there was none :P) as an example. I'd rather this thread not become a debate about sexism. My issue here is with the rules, I do not believe they are clear and I agree, if a warning is issued, you should stop. Nevertheless I don't think it's fair to impose rules without first clarifying those rules.

Rules certainly need clarifying. At the moment they're far too general and anyone could just walk into HxHD not knowing the rules, because at the moment they are "follow the habbo way; follow staff instructions; do not impersonate HxHD staff; please don't offend Colin (why is that one on there anyway, it is either waste of space or a more 'to the point' rule). Personally rules should be on a sticky so that people who don't know what Habbox is know the rules. As for the 'sexism', I think it comes accross as rude and should not be tolerated, but that is just my opinion. Like Calvin said though, Habbox Management arguing in the desk won't help at all.

CAN I PLEASE CLARIFY that this is NOT a debate about sexism and this is NOT a discussion about the behaviour of staff members. This is about HxHD Rules.

I've been dealing with drama in the helpdesk for a while, and I can say I've had my fair share of rudeness and I've said some mean things, but when dealing with stuff like this I have to put my opinion in.

I know that people like to have fun and make fun of people, but if it offends other people in the Helpdesk, I think it should stop. End of story. And if higher staff members want to do it jokingly they should do it with great discretion and not be so blatant about it, especially when many guests are in the room. Didn't something like this go on yesterday as well?

Again I am not discussing any rudeness in the HD. If you feel that members of staff have been rude you can contact Sammeth. or MattGarner. I am referring to whether or not people believe that the HxHD rules should be clarified somewhere in hard copy, so everyone can be aware of them.

Can I just add into this, that the Assistant General Manager (Community) just told me that as far as she's aware, sexist jokes aren't against the rules in Habbox Help Desk.

I think this needs clarifying, as it's incredibly confusing for members.

I do agree that the rules need to be looked at and clarified for everyone. There seems to be a huge confusion not just for the users who go in there but for HxHD staff. If they aren’t on the sticky then they normally say it comes under rule number two which is: "Follow Staff Instructions", although that does not really define them at all.

I personally don't get offended by sexist jokes, but i know some people do... i do think the rules need to be made more clear, hence why i made a post in the suggestions thread in the help desk only forum to suggest that the rules should be made more clear and btw nice way to show how professional you all are... arguing in the middle of the help desk in front of everyone, i know if i was a new user and visited the help desk after seeing that i wouldnt bother coming back.

Yes they need clarifying, but anything deemed rude by another user is deemed against the habbox rules... I can just burst out with racism jokes... (I'm staying on topic so please don't move this post)

I fail to see at any point when I was arguing, I merely asked where the rules were as I was confused, which in turn led me to create this thread.

And you're right, we should make the rules more obvious.

Well I don't think anyone would like to be offended in the helpdesk. Why isn't sexism against the rules in the helpdesk? It's just as bad as racism, if not worse.

This, we are not arguing about it, yes the reules need to be stated more definately... But yes sexism is just as bad as racism so therefore there should be a rule against it.

Well the rules could be clarified and put in a stickie in the room and also in the 'Ask the Help Desk Staff' forum on a stickie. That way there should be no confusion.

Well the HxHD Asst Manager has said he agrees. This thread has served it's purpose. Before it goes off topic with a ridiculous debate about sexism, thread closed. I look forward to seeing the rules :D

Yes, sexism is as bad as racism but sexism and sexist jokes are different things, just like racism and racist jokes are different too.

Any rules should be clearly written somewhere, if not in HxHD then somewhere on the forum (HxHD have their own forum too so yeah) and a sticky should read "For a full list of our rules please visit XXX" as tbh just having one rule as a get out clause is a bit bad.
