View Full Version : Number of users we can PM

Hi,
After a user has like 100 posts, can you not do it so they can PM at least 5 people at once rather than 2?
This is because if I send a PM to a manager, it can sometimes be copied to several people once I get a reply. If I want to reply, its usually standard to reply to all.
E.g.
HotelUser just sent me PM with a copy to 2 people. I wanted to reply and I had to send my reply twice so all 3 members involved could see it (HotelUser ; Member 1) and then to Member 2. Its irritating having to send it as 2 PM's.
Thanks.
2 does seem a little low to me, so maybe that is a good idea :).

you get more once you get more posts. new users shouldn't be allowed to PM too many people..

Hence I said after 100 posts as its irritating to have to resend a PM several times just so all the concerned people can see it.

It does increase to 3 at 500 posts although I suppose increasing them all wouldn't be a major problem, we'll see what Garion thinks and discuss it.

Should increase every 100 posts imo
Should increase every 100 posts imo
There is no way we're going to increase it by 1 for every 100 posts. The idea of limiting the amount of members people can send is to minimise the risk of spam advertising. Members get extra every time they progress through a user rank, but I'd be willing to extend each one by one.

Isnt it like a reward though? Like after 500 posts you can do this extra, If you do it before that then your giving them more benefits without the posts?
If tht makes sense i understand what i mean

After 100 posts, you can surely have maximum 5? After 100 posts, I think we will know the person isnt a spammer.

But then one day that member with 5000 posts decides to go all e-rebel and starts sending out mass PMs because we have given them the power to do so :P.

I am only asking for 5, not unlimited. And I think its only ever happened once that a member has gone crazy and sent out mass PM's. This was then followed by nvrspk4 replying to all.
I think the positives outweigh the negatives here.

Saurav if you didn't get banned you wouldn't want this..
There is no reason to need to pm managers all the time, if you become staff u can pm more people - which is only when you really start needing to pm managers all the time?

Why do you need to send that many PMs? Yeah, if you have to often, but once in a while in seperate PMs is fine :S

Agreed with gomme. And there's no point arbitrarily increasing it to 3 because then someone else will whinge that they want another one and you won't have a good answer for them. There's no reason to increase it now, just man up and send separate PMs

Yeah obviously
No. I sent a PM to HotelUser. He copied it to dogboy123, Roxy and Matt Garner. That meant I had to send it as 2 PMs every time and that meant waiting before sending it to the last 2. There were like 30 PM exchanges between us, so it is kind of irritating.
I dont see any harm in changing it.
I am asking for 5 not 3 (wish people would actually read properly before crying) and this would avoid any problems. PM advertisement is banned anyway, so most regular members wouldn't abuse it if they didnt want to be banned. I am saying do it after someone has 100 posts so MGMT can be sure people wont register just to spam.
If its helping rather than making something worse, I dont see why you are all moaning.

Not moaned, suggested an idea.
I gues everyone who suggests an idea in here for the first time is moaning.

Although I can now PM several users at one time now, I still think this would be a great idea. It has more benefits than cons.

It doesn't really seem to be in popular demand, so it's a no for now :)

Alright. but you shouldnt always look at whats in popular demand rather what makes it easier for new members.

Well, true however I can't see many situations where a new user would have to mass PM so in my eyes this would be a pointless change at the moment.
