A pensioner who put up a red, white and blue election poster telling voters to kick out MPs was accused of racism by police. After being inundated by canvassing politcians, Roy Newman, 74, decided to tell other voters: ‘GET THE LOT OUT.’ But 90 minutes after he put up the homemade sign up in an upstairs room at his house, two police officers arrived and threatened with arrest. They said the Union Jack-coloured lettering on a white background could be considered 'racist'. He was told there had been a single complaint and he was ordered to remove it or change it otherwise he would end up in court .

But the former Tory councillor, from North Anston, near Rotherham, South Yorkshire, said police had misunderstood his message. He said : ‘My sign is up there because the MPs and council leadership we have in place at the moment are a load of rubbish and I want them out, nothing more. ‘The police told me that due to the fact that the words were written in red and blue and the background was white, my sign had racist connotations. ‘What a load or rubbish - it certainly wasn't my intention to come across as racist. I'm not racist.’ And the furious pensioner , chairman of his local history society and a former Samaritan , slammed police for wasting their time. He said : ‘Three years ago vandals put a brick through my window and when I called the police all they offered me was a crime reference number. This is the sort of country we now live in under this Labour government which has eroded civil rights and liberties, and only allows freedom of speech provided that it fits with their views. Even if this sign had meant to be in relation to immigrations I dont see why or how the police have anything to do with this because its not their house, its a private property which has a sign in its windows which is not rascist at all because it doesnt refer to skin colour (which of course is cheap of the police anyway because they have a Black Police Officers Association). The police have become poilitical now and dont solve real crime, they serve the government to impose the way the government thinks we should run our lives/what we should say.

I've always noticed;

The Police call people like this man racist, yet have Black Police Officers Association.
The Labour Party call the BNP racist, yet have all-black/asian candidate shortlists.
The Conservatives call UKIP racist, yet also have all-black/asian candidate shortlists.
The UAF calls the BNP fascist, yet wants the BNP to be gagged/banned.

Anybody else see the hypocrisy in all of this(?), add this to the fact from what Hitman posted before which is a case about a Muslim man writing on a war memorial 'Islam will dominate the world' yet is let off the hook by the ever-increasingly political courts.

Thoughts?

It's stupid it's mental it's crazy and too politically correct. It's utter madness. How can this called racist when this is not: http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=641263

WHAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY?

Even if he had of being implying it towards immigrants, they should not stop his freedom of speech... he is not being violent.

Evidence of this? The candidate shortlist for my constituency resulted in us having a white candidate. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying (which, in politics, is always possible :p).

Anyway, as for the topic itself, I really hate the 'complaints patrol' as I call it. One complaint out of a population of millions results in pathetic attempts at 'justice.' I think this might just be police chasing easy targets (for their records) rather than trying to catch the proper criminals, which is a bigger problem imo.

Harriett Harman has called for all-black/asian candidate shortlists and I believe its been implemented and the same goes for the Conservatives, it basically means that when they choose a candidate for your local area they begin to choose only black or asian candidates yet they have the audacity to call the BNP racist for having a all-white membership list. Personally I dont believe any lists should have any race requirements and it should be open to anybody, but the ruling elite dont seem to agree with that - one rule for them, another for everybody else.

A good example is where David Cameron said of UKIP 'fruitcakes, loonies and racists' yet David Cameron has started intervening in Conservative candidate shortlists and has started implementing all-black/asian candidate shortlists - another reason why I turned my back on the Conservatives who are now about as far away from Conservatism as they have ever been before.

Inseriousity.

oh Harman's an idiot so I won't listen to her lol.
I don't think it's been implemented though due to the fact we have a white Labour candidate running in our constituency (who yes was only recently picked, our old MP died :()

It is not all constituencies, just those picked by central office.

The Queen should fire Harriet Harman, and Alistair Darling while she's at it.
