Basically, it's his 70th next week and rather than getting him a Happy 70th my Dad got him a "Congratulations" card. It's pretty much saying, well done for not dying yet. Is this rude or is it just me being a drama queen?! Serious thoughts!

It's a bit inappropriate, it's like buying someone a "Get Well Soon" card instead of a bereavement sympathy one...

If it was me, I'd find it quite humourous and it's the sort of thing I'd do for my dad when he hits 70. My dad always jokes with my Grandma about when she's going to "pop off".

Yeah, my dad is a laid back cool cat irl and my grand dad always seems to make jokes (but he's not english so i can't understand) harsh truths.

My grandad would love that tbh. I guess it depends what kind of person your grandad is.

If your grandad's worried at the thought of death and things then it's probs not the best card, but if he jokes about death and isn't really bothered about it then I assume he'll take it in the funnier way it's meant.

lol what nationality is he?

i'm sure your dad wouldn't give him something he'd think would upset him.

yeah, depends if you know whether your grandad will take it as a joke or not.
if he wont then its not such a good idea.
