In a huge EastEnders story twist, murderous preacher Lucas Johnson strangles his wife and childhood sweetheart Denise before dumping her lifeless body into a nearby canal.

During a drive out of the Square with Denise, Lucas decides to stop by what could become her watery grave. Their pleasant discussion soon becomes heated, catapulting Lucas into a viscious rage. With that, he instinctively grabs Denise's neck and begins throttling her.

Fighting and kicking at the window, Denise struggles to escape her husband's evil clutches but her body quickly becomes limp as she loses consciousness.

Grabbing for his black gloves, Lucas drags her lifeless body from the motor and dumps it into the canal. Unbeknown to him, though, a passerby has spotted the commotion and called the police

Fleeing the scene, Lucas throws Denise's mobile into the water with her, before launching a brick through the car window in a bid to make out that he and Denise were attacked.

The police promptly arrive at the location and within minutes, expert divers recover Denise's motionless body from the water - but is she dead?

EastEnders' man-of-the-cloth-gone-bad Lucas Johnson looks to claim his fourth victim in the coming months as he strangles a prostitute to death.

With his ex-wife Trina dead, Denise's ex-husband Owen buried beneath the Albert Square gardens and his son Jordan's dog Sugar believed to be at the bottom of the nearby canal, Lucas's murderous secret appears to be safe - for now.

However, as Owen's mother Liz continues in her attempts to track down her son, it's surely only a matter of time before she realises that he's not coming back.

While Liz - who departs (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a214903/six-characters-to-leave-eastenders.html) the Walford soap later this year - deliberates Owen's whereabouts, Lucas is on a mission to 'save' as many people as he can from their sinful lives in a bid to clear his own conscience.

Driving to a nearby red light area, Lucas manages to coax a prostitute into his car, where he begins preaching at her about her 'dirty' life.

However, when the call girl retaliates with a barrage of verbal abuse, Lucas's inner demon takes hold.

Removing his tie, he forms a ligature and swiftly strangles his latest victim...

Neck wear is apparently Lucas's murder 'weapon' of choice, having strangled (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a188611/in-pictures-shock-eastenders-lucas-twist.html) Owen with a bowtie on his wedding day to Denise.Theres no way these are real :P

His character does little to nothing, no point him being on the payroll/being forced to squeeze him in every few episodes to keep it realistic.
