OK this is a little hard to explain so please bare with me

So, I found my old iPod (iPod mini) & I have loads of songs on it i used to listen to before i got a new iPod (iPod nano)

The battery is kinda broke, so I want to put all of the songs onto my computer somehow, be it straight to the p.c via a folder or to iTunes

But when i plug the iPod mini into the p.c, it wants to sync onto iTunes that is for my iPod nano. Now i know from previous problems that when it does this it will remove all the songs (if im not mistaken)

I don't want it to do this, just put the songs from the iPod mini onto my computer somehow

Is there a way to do this? Please don't hesitate to ask questions, i know all this may sound a little confusing. +rep for all helpful answer as usual :)

I get what you mean. I've had this problem before but I don't think it's possible

Connect your iPod — Warning! if iTunes loads when you plug in your iPod, and is set to automatically sync your entire library (erasing your iPod), you MUST stop it — hit the little “X” in the upper right hand corner of the window.
Open your iPod — It should show up on “My Computer” as a “Mobile Device”; right click and choose “Explore”. Alternatively, go to the Control Panel, Portable Media Devices, and double-click your iPod.
Unhide the files — By default, Windows hides hidden files and folders (thus the name). Go to Options (in the Tools menu), and on the View tab, check “Show Hidden Files and Folders”.
Find the Music — The music is stored (in current iPods) in the directory “\iPod_Control\Music”. This may have a lot of odd looking stuff in it — it doesn’t matter; select everything and drag and drop them to a folder on your hard drive.
Or just search "iPod Music to PC" for links to a number of programs that'll do it.
