Ok, have a look around on the Motherboard, can you see a brand and model? Finding out what the error beeps are is a good start.

Try taking the BIOS chip out and putting it back in.

Safe to say you have a faulty part in there...

Maybe the graphics card? The PC is designed to shut down if it finds a fault, lets just say its something like a break in the circuit...

My computer did it a while back... my graphics card broked...

Have a mess around and let me know :) +REP if it fixed :)

We need to know the make and model of the motherboard to find out the error beeps so heh

So why not take parts such as the graphics card out to see if any of them are faulty first?
The computer is designed to shut off if there are faults.

'tis a good idea.

Most PCs wont boot without a graphics card installed of some kind, so leave that in, take all your RAM out apart from one stick, unplug all the drives and any non-standard peripherals and see if it boots.

Of course your computer will boot without a gfx card in. Most standard motherboards come with a built in 64mb gfx port so it will boot ;)

No it won't if there's no graphics card at all.
