Android sold more phones than Apple in Q1, analyst reports

Analyst firm NPD reported this morning that Android phones surpassed sales of the iPhone in the first quarter of 2010. Android had 28 percent of unit sales, compared to Apple's 21 percent. Both operating systems lagged behind RIM's BlackBerry OS, which had 36 percent of the unit sales.

Good, the iPhone OS is boring. Android phones offer so much more and do not lack any sort of company restrictions. It's a shame the Nexus One isn't available here, but I know someone who's imported one :)

Seeing as the new iPhone 4G is coming out in Q2, it doesn't surprise me one bit. Consumers will hold off until the upgrade, where then the Android will take a hard hit.

I'm not sure. I imported the Nexus One from the states to Canada. It didn't cost me an arm and a leg either!

I heard for a Windows Mobile device, that's supposed to run fairly nice. It's a pitty you can't get Android on it!

May do, but Andorid will just rise back up when newer devices running Android keep pumping out. :P

HTC HD2 runs Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional with HTC Sense. :P

Thats what you get, for locking your software to one device, and one device only.

exactly, but saying they only lost out by a few percentage points and that they only realllllllllly have 1 phone out, so if someone disliked the look they cant go for an alternative, its pretty good, especially with the new one coming out soon

I am with Bell Mobility. The best phone I can get is an iphone with them, below that is windows mobile garbage. They have no snapdragon devices, or WVGA handsets.
