I spent so many years on PAYG phones and realised I was spending £40/£50 a month so I got myself a contract.

However of course with a contract it doesn't stop when you run out of credit which is a problem... for most I think.

So do you prefer PAYG or contract phones? Have you had bad contract experiences? Which is better?

contract baby since 11/12 years old. not that i had anyone to call though. but i just prefer contracts because i'm too lazy to top up or whatever and also i have the freedom to talk and text essentially as much as i want to. whereas i'd be limited to what i can do when it comes to pay as you go. but i've noticed some pay as you gos are quite similiar to contracts nowadays with offering unlimited texts or whatever when topping up 'x' amount.

I used to be on a contract for a while but realised I was spending £20 a month for so many texts/minutes and not using them all. So switched back to PAYG and now I only spend £10 a month and get so many free texts and so much free internet.

I can just as easily top up as pay my contract so it makes no difference really, just have more control with PAYG.

I've always been on O2 PAYG. I keep thinking about a contract but you don't really get them cheaper than £15 p/m and as it is, I get unlimited texts (and internet I think) whenever I top-up £15 or more, and I also get the £15 worth of credit so I'm only spending that much about every two months which means a contract would be a waste of money and unnecessary commitment and risk.

Contract obviously, with pay as you go you don't realise you've run out of credit till you get cut off a call or when you're in the middle of texting and you get a text saying "you have 90p remaining" :@

Contract - I've never been on pay-as-you-go.
I never talk on the phone, I always text.. so I can find the right deal.

Right now I get 200 minutes anywhere, unlimited 3-to-3 calls, unlimited texts and unlimited internet. Everything I need for £18 a month :)

I prefer pay as you go, I only pay £15 a month and get unlimited texts and unlimited internet. I very rarely phone anyone, but when I need to I still have the £15 left to make calls with :)
The only advantage to contracts in my opinion is when you get phones included with the contract.

I have a contract and prefer them. I just check my usage once in a week - takes like 40 seconds.

I'm with o2 topup £10 a month, get unlimited free texts, 50 free minutes to mobiles and then keep the £10 credit as well. I used to have a contract till i went to Ibiza and came back to a rather big bill, oops. So i rather Pay as you go :)

Depends on usage. I've only recently turned to Contract and can safely say I prefer it for internet and roaming, but Pay & Go for Text Messaging and Calls because there's minimal effort looking after two things and they can become dodgy when anything like roaming and internet charges apply where they can cost a helluva lot. A contract reduces any stress or attention, just one payout provided you haven't gone overboard, but that depends on what contract you've got and whether or not you've thought wisely :P

On contact, Dolphin 35. Very good value because they replace faulty phones for free (I've had 9 phones out of it lololol) and I now have some £400 phone, none of which I've had to pay any extra for.

600 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited internet, insurance, nice phone, £20 a month for 18 months.
