View Full Version : Does anybody still go to the theatre?

Now, let me just justify the reasoning for me posting this here.
In the entertainment section, this doesn't fit anywhere apart from the forum called "Anime & other entertainment", yet that forum is full of anime so this would be completely out of place! So let's resort to the good old "AMG I CAN'T FIND ANYWHERE TO POST" discuss anything forum.
Anyway to the point, does anybody still go to the theatre? I haven't been in a while which is quite shocking, I last saw 'Fiddler on the Roof' at Lincoln Theatre Royal but I worked on that too.
Our theatre has just been renovated so I really need to find a good play that's on and go watch it.
Each summer at Lincoln Castle the Lincoln Shakespeare Society put on one of Shakespeare's classics within the castle grounds which I always try to get to.
Anybody else go to the theatre?

I've never been, except once on a school trip with primary school and I can't even remember what it was.
Rarely, although I have a soft spot for the study of theatre- so when there is anything good in Hong Kong, I may consider going.

We try to go to the theatre a couple of times per year, absolutely great night out every time! They are more musicals than actual "plays", but we did see a short Shakespeare play at the Globe on a school trip.
In the past few years we've seen Acorn Antiques, The Snowman, Lion King, Dr Dolittle, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Whistle down the Wind and of course our favourite - Blood Brothers.
Considered going down to London to see Mary Poppins but just didn't have the time, waiting for it to come up North on tour :)

I've only ever really watched something at the theatre when I've been with school. Never really had the time or money to go and see something myself.

I used to go very regularly with me doing a lot of theatre shows myself. I don't tend to go to any at the moment, I just don't have time. Although I did go and see Billy Elliott again in London with a friend and last time I went back home I went and watched something at the theatre. It's a shame really because I enjoy it so much :(

Yes. We have a fantastic Fringe festival, so I go and see lots of different comedians and plays every February. I also go and see things like Cats and Phantom of the Opera and The Mikado when they come to our city, and plays that friends and friends of friends put on during the year.

I don't go often, but I've been to some musicals in London and some productions in Norwich. Those were mostly school trips however.
