View Full Version : Habbo Extremely Slow?

Hey guys,

It seems that Habbo Hotel is being extremely laggy lately, and I have no idea why.
It could be completely lag-free for an hour, and then suddenly it'll start lagging really badly, and then it will be fine again.

Please note:
- My internet connection is fine. I have a 5MB connection and it never slows down. In fact, just to make sure, whenever Habbo starts lagging, I open up a video in YouTube to see if I can stream a video. I can stream a 1080p video without any lag. And if I try downloading a file - same thing, it will download at ~550KB/s. So, no - my internet is fine.
- The habbo servers are fine. I disagree with "Habbo may lag because there are a lot of people online", because the game is unplayable with the lag I'm getting, and it's impossible that all other Habbo players are getting the same lag as I do. I also asked my friends, and none of them are lagging.
- I couldn't find any port Habbo uses, but I did find out that the Shockwave port is 1626, and I forwarded it in my router.
- I did try to restart my computer, and I did try to restart my router. No luck.

Anyone know what's the problem?
Thanks in advance :)

Hey, I didn't get an answer yet so bump :)

Also, I'd like to add that I tried playing Habbo on another house, and it worked perfectly.
The difference was that in my house it's a 5MB internet connection with a router, and the other house was a 1MB (or even slower) connection but WITHOUT a router. And there wasn't any lag even though the connection itself was pretty slow.

So I guess it's a router problem, meaning I probably have to forward some ports, but whenever I search for "habbo port forwarding" or w/e, it just comes up with ports for retro hotels, and not the regular hotel.

(Although now that I think about it, if it's a problem with port forwarding, how come sometimes it doesn't lag at all? If it was a port forwarding problem then there would always be lag. Odd)

So anyone know what to do?

Sounds a tidgy bit stupid buy try clearing Temp Files and/or your catche and cookies

Will do, although I don't think that would help since I tried using 3 browsers already (Firefox, Chrome and IE) and I get lag on all of them (even though I don't have any temp. files/cache on Chrome and IE since I don't use them :P)

This happens to me. I open habbo and it's working fine, 30 minutes later my habbo freezes and I have to wait like 10 minutes for it to unfreeze or normally I don't wait that long and just close it and restart habbo. Also I noticed that my habbo sometimes freezes when the pixels come, because I'm on habbo, it freezes and after waiting 5 minutes or so the pixel thing always pops up. Really annoying actually.

Yeah, I've been experiencing a bit more lag recently too. I'm guessing that perhaps this is all in preparation for the merge, and that there are things going on behind the scenes. Hopefully it will be fixed.

Nah, that's not my case.
It doesn't freeze for me, it just lags, meaning when I do something it takes 10 seconds until it actually happens.

I doubt it, because as I mentioned earlier I tried in a different connection and it worked perfectly (and I didn't try for 10 minutes, I tried for a few hours and in more than 1 occasion), so I doubt that it's the merge (although it may be ONE of the causes).

How much lag exactly are you talking about?

I'm asking this because lately I've been noticing that when people say they're lagging, they usually mean that, for example, when they send a message it takes 3 seconds until it appears. That's an understandable lag, and it could happen to anyone no matter what.

The lag I'm talking about is different - it's extremely bad and makes the game unplayable. For comparison, when I type a message it will take about a minute until it shows it - that is, if I actually manage to get in a room (it takes about 3 minutes to load the rooms in the navigator and probably another couple of minutes to actually get inside a room).

Are you talking about the casual lag, or the unplayable lag that I mentioned?

I've had unplayable lag too, for example when I go into a room the window that habbo is on fails to work properly and freezes. I think this has been happening to many people ever since around last week. Hopefully it will be fixed when the merge happens.

When you say "freeze", do you mean actually freeze (meaning, the window is "not responding" and you can't click anything), or freeze latency-wise (meaning, the game IS responding on your computer but any server-sided actions aren't responding because of lag)?

Lol, I can barely get on the hotel and my internet is **** fast.

I load it up and it literally freezes on hotel view with the 2 loading bars for about 5-7 mins then if i'm lucky it'll either load or just freeze and close. Tried IE, chrome + Firefox.

It's just ridiculous though, I literally don't play anymore because I can't.

Lag must mean something. We just hope for the merge to commence today :)

This has nothing to do with the Habbo servers, I repeat, this has NOTHING to do with the Habbo servers lagging.

I just played Habbo for a few hours now, and it was PERFECT. ZERO lag - completely smooth.
I then quit my Habbo and pressed Enter Hotel again - as in, 3 seconds after I closed the hotel. It was completely laggy. I went into my room, typed a message and it took about 3 minutes before the message showed up.
Therefore, it is DEFINITELY not a problem with the Habbo servers.
You cannot say it's a server-side problem, if I can play for hours and hours without any lag (and so can thousands of other Habbos), and then I refresh the page and suddenly the game is completely unplayable.

The only reason for the lag that I can come up with, is that Habbo uses a specific range of ports to connect, and it randomly chooses a port everytime you load the hotel. When it chooses a certain port, it might be forwarded in your router and then you will get no lag, and then when you refresh it will randomly choose another port (in that specific range) which won't be forwarded and the connection will be messed up. However, it seems like no one knows the ports Habbo uses to connect (except for the 1626 Shockwave port), and you can't Google them, because Googling "Habbo ports" (etc) will show results of Habbo RETRO ports.

This is the only thing that seems possible at this moment (even though, if it's true, how is it that the ports Habbo uses are unknown?).

Have you tried any other habbos eg USA becasue if they all are it might be something about your computer or if your computer is over 10 years it will be slow hope this helps

Check your Flash player version and its settings. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that yet.

I've got a ****-hot Internet connection and a MBP from last year. I installed the latest beta version of Flash player (for the hardware acceleration on videos) and now Habbo runs like a dog. I hope Adobe will rectify it.

But yeah, check which Flash player you're using in your own home versus others, and check how much space you've set for the Flash cache (NB: this is not your browser's cache).

Both to be honest, sometimes they happen at different times or just after it. :(

It's not your comp, it's the actual on server lag. I've had periods where it just froze due to lag, then it went back to normal. I guess they're not investing that much into server maintenance etc. now that the merge is nearing.

As they said 'we are upgrading our servers to prevent in game lag' or something along those lines, so once merge I'm sure the knew servers will be working smoothly.

Anyone who says it's server lag - I'm sorry but as I've previously explained, your statement is false.
Again - if the server lags, how is it I play for hours without lag, and then once I refresh it lags?
The "trigger" for the lag is MY action (refresh the page). If I wouldn't refresh the page, I could keep going and there won't be any lag. But I did refresh, and the game became completely unplayable.

Now THAT'S good thinking! This is actually a great idea.
I'm pretty sure I have the latest Flash Player (I redownloaded anyway).
Do you know how I can change the Flash cache? Usually you just right click and set the cache there, but you can't right click in Habbo. Any idea how I could change the cache for Habbo?

EDIT:

The same thing just happened.
I played for about 2 hours now and the game went perfectly fine.
Someone respected me and I got a new respect badge, so I refreshed the page (so the achievements will refresh and I will see what's the next badge).
I refreshed, and now it's completely unplayable. I click on the "Me" tab, it takes about 30 seconds to load the list of rooms.

You may need to remove some files from your PC/Laptop. This could be slowing online gaming down. Also habbo have been having a few problems with their servers because of this new relaunch/murge thing! I hope i helped and as some people has also mentioned clear your cookies and catche!

Hope This Helped x
