t's official. NBC has cancelled "Heroes."

The network seriously mulled bringing back "Heroes" for a shortened final season to wrap up the serialized show.

In the end, given the fairly high cost of the drama, the show's consistently declining ratings and the number of new hour-longs coming to NBC next season, the network decided the UMS-produced series wasn't worth an additional season. Sources say the network is still leaving the door open to conclude the show with a special or movie.

The show has long had a rocky relationship with its fans. Out of the gate, "Heroes" was a big hit for the network -- an ethnically diverse big-concept ensemble that performed well overseas. It was NBC's "Lost."

But the show's writers struggled to keep the show's twisting narrative on track. Characters were killed off and resurrected with regularity. Narrative threads were started, then abandoned. Unlike "Lost," there didn't seem to be series-long central questions driving the show that needed to be resolved with a final season.

That show was god awful

This. To the tee.

I loved series one and meeting each new hero as it were, and seeing how their stories intertwined but then series two and beyond was just constant, pointless battles and it just got stupid.

Cancelling them all in time for the pilot season to begin so they can pick up new shows that will be smash hits that will be canned in two years.

Good. I loved the show but in the end it got ridiculous.
And the end to this last volume was absolutely terrible.

Agree with this entirely. You can spot shows a mile away that will or won't last. Admittedly heroes looked promising at first but come the second season it was clearly going nowhere.
With flashforward I didn't even bother watching it because you could tell from the adverts it was just trying to be another Lost or Heroes and it was blatently never going to make it to the end, no matter how many adverts five put on their channel.

Flashforward only seemed like a 1 season show anyway.

Lost all contact with heroes after season 2 of heroes after sky1 (i think) went on hiatus for a while

They started repeating the show tbh. So will there be another season to end it as they left it on a slight cliffhanger.

Seriously? "/ The way they set it up, they could have easily done 2 series.
