Should the GAMES section be merged with ENTERTAINMENT?

Hello!

A while back, under previous Forum Management it was suggested that the 'Games' and 'Entertainment' secitons should be merged together and tidied up a little.

This suggestion was not supported by a lot of members and the members vowed to make the 'Games' section more active, however this has not really been too successful.

The RuneScape Forum is very quiet still, as are the other gaming forums.

My suggestion is to do this:

Entertainment (Category)
~ Forum Games
~ Console & Computer Gaming ~ Subforums remain as they are
~ Online Games ~ RuneScape be added as a Sub Forum here
~ Music
~ TV & Film
~ Jokes
~ Anime & Other Entertainment

Thoughts?

Actually ignore what I said, didn't read your thread properly. All that is doing is basically merging 2 categories into one isn't it as most of the forums will still exist - but some as subforums i.e. Runescape.

Its probably better to have them separate but remove all the subforums. For example, WoW subforums first page goes back to February.

How is runescape too big? It's a very quiet forum.

I wouldn't really say that games are what I think of as 'Entertainment' but it would seem to make sense.

Whilst my feelings on the merge of the two categories are mixed and I won't convey them until I see some other opinions, games are essentially a form of entertainment so in that sense they do make sense. The idea of the merge is really to increase activity of the two I guess.

Leave it alone, maybe remove some sub-forms but it's fine as it is, all these merges have been tried before and it just annoyed people.

I just wrote out a whole post about how I don't want to have to go through an extra sub-forum to find Sony/Microsoft/CoD but then I realised I had the complete wrong end of the stick :P

So as that was my only criticism which now doesn't exist, I think it is a good idea. In fact, if the ability to collapse categories ever comes back, I will like this a lot as there is currently only one forum in the Games section that I ever look at anyway.

With the removal of one individual forum and then the possibility of merging two others it would shorten the index length which is something which is often criticised.

I had considered this, but I don't think it'll fit in.

There are several forums that don't have post count increasing, we can't just put them all together!

i dont see how merging them is going to make them more active though. surely taking them out of their own category would make them less active or about the same activity as now.

Feedback should be renamed to Habbox Discussion and Feedback. You should then merge the congrats thread into this, along with questions would see this forum become a lot more active.......... but obv dont allow threads like "omgz 100posts yaya"

I'm not sure if this was just a joke but I actually think there is substance with this idea. There are quite a few threads that I think would be suited to a sub-forum under Spam. Many of which get stuck in Discuss Anything but they aren't really very thought-provoking and don't generate a huge amount of actual discussion like Post a Random Fact About Yourself for instance. Post a Picture of You is another. I know that is under Pictures and Photography but my impression of a forum with that title is for people to show off their photography skills as opposed to a snap taken in the bathroom mirror just for something to upload. In support of my previous comment, didn't this in fact used to be in Discuss Anything? I reckon all these sorts of things would be great under a sort of general Fun & Games sub-forum. Just a suggestion, I'd be interested in other people's views on this.

I have to agree with this also. In the past whenever I've been looking for a specific announcement, I've often found myself scrambling through those various different forums looking for it.
