ENDGAME SPOILERS.

May just be one of the most powerful 'videogame moments' in the history of gaming. I love the fact that the revenge mission is a 'Stranger' mission. It's a personal mission, not one that's thrown at you and forced to chew. This is the greatest open-world game of all time.

I tried to play online all I had was a crappy hand gun and a donkey I then got attacked by a huge gang of spanish dudes and died lol.

Playing the story mode is good though really enjoy riding around hunting :D

Best sandbox this gen possibly, not ever. There are still quite alot of errors, like alot of the ones in GTA IV which would make sense considering it's the same engines.

I'm like level 30, the multiplayer hype has pretty much died down, it's only good if you're in a posse and get bountys and just hunt down other people. It's pretty boring on your own and I really can't be bothered with Single Player. I'ma trade this in for Skate 3.

OK firstly, it's a steam locomotive. "Driving" consists of churning coal into a fire. It's pretty much either full speed ahead or put the breaks on for a few miles until you screech to a halt. Do you really think that would be very exciting? Why would a wild west outlaw literally steal a train anyway? They wouldn't bother doing anything more than jumping on, mugging the passengers, then jumping off and escaping.

Secondly, three words as stated earlier by Apeel; Select -> Kit -> Campfire. This is the quickest way to travel but there are other options such as the train and the stagecoach taxi.

Personally I enjoy galloping across the planes on my horse completing the various challenges you are confronted with. I love the way everyone was like 'Oh I hope it will have a huge map like San Andreas' but then complain about the main mode of transport for a cowboy being horseback. I'm sorry if you were expecting them to be fitted with tanks of nitrous oxide. I think comparing this game to GTA in general is rather silly. It is what it is and after a couple days of play, I think I like it a lot. I haven't even tried online play with it yet!

I guess you've not had a few lessons on American West yet ha :P Central United States especially was bare as it was hard to cope to living there. So they usually stayed east (where it started) or move west for the gold mines.

I'd like to add it's playable in 720p on PS3 (unless it isn't in standard edition in which I'm sorry for the ignorance).
Completed the story, thought it was very good. Now to get 100% and attempt to get platinum trophy (however long it is :P).

I got confused and realised they were hideouts not missions. Well good games, am on about 70 odd % and loving it. For the first time in a long time a game has stopped me from even touching the multi until it's completed. Time to do some stranges and things now.

I was doing bears, down one with that pistol with 15 odd bullets and then realise 2 come and maul me from behind, good times!

i was well pissed wit this game coz id done rank 9 and 10 of sharpshooter and then forgot to save, and then just as id done rank 10 i accidnetally ****zed out and when to game instead of map and opened my game file. So it took me back to rank 9 which was like ughhhhh sicne rank 10 was somewhat challenging. But then i did em both again on first try but still.

I thought the ending was alright I guess, cause I think it had to be ended. Just when I did get shot, I was like "is this it?" as like you say, there's 1 stranger mission to do with Jack.

Am on 81%ish. All strangers and missions done. Need to do all the journal stuff now. And I actually hate rabbits, they're normally all over the place minus the time you need to find them.

I thought the Ending was good purley 'cause it was one of the most shocking i've played LMAO,i was not expecting it at all.

Because we were just settling down with the family, i knew we were able to free roam after the game was finnished so i was just expecting that "happily ever after" ending i liked the twist that you playedasthe son instead. because it sort of did a tutorial for the son onthe ranc missions.

Overall a very good and steardy play. Online is nothing special unless your with freinds which makes it totally unique.

Overall i'd give it 8.5/10

The real reason that John dies is because he knows the government will catch up with him, and even if he escapes, they'll use his family as bait. I felt zero attachment to the family, as I didn't even find out his wife's name until half-way through the main game. So, generally speaking, they were NPCs to me and not real character. If given the choice of running away/ facing the bulletstorm; I would still choose to die.

The real reason it alienates some is because 1/3 of R*'s audience just generally like to **** stuff up; which is what I'm doing. They don't really care for the main story and the already dictated "You have a wife and child." isn't a likely motivation. When they came to the ending they had zero authorship or control over what would happen.

I liked the ending, personally, but I don't like it for how it alienates people.

I don't know of any games, ever, in ever, that give you a completely dynamic narrative. I didn't feel alienated although I can see what you mean. It is another unique way of opening it up for a sequel.

You're entirely right but people only really get attached to John through the narrative; I obviously ignored the dictated plot elements though. It's hard to feel sympathetic for an outlaw, other than he is one of the last of his kind and I've looked over the symbology of the whole final act; it's extinction. The comet coming down to Earth to wipe out the dinosaurs, the government getting its talons into the last etch of West - John Marston.

I 'killed' John because I felt he had had enough, it was too much. But I think a 1/3 of the audience felt zero attachment to the story; skipping cutscenes and the like. The story isn't that interesting, to be quite honest, except on those rare occasions and those emergent moments within scripted structures. Red Dead's missions don't take use of the non-linear elements, rather it lets you ride through a free-roam world into a scripted, linear mission. One way street. One door.

I think that makes it all the more weird, as the ending to Red Dead did kill off a more interesting character than the one you play as. Jack isn't characterise enough, and to be honest, he's no John Marston. I don't think it's ever been done before and it is a bold step; but I feel that people grew an attachment to John Marston - like we did - but we also engaged with other characters. I genuinely felt like John's time had come.

If you do the mission 'I Know You' (not available as Jack) there is some chilling stuff to be had. Rockstar are the king of intrigue.

You haven't by chance also done the extra Stranger mission after the 'ending'? I loved the fact it was a stranger mission and not a story one, as it felt more personal and you were avenging your own death.

It's a very good game, all the attention to detail is amazing and the storyline is good. Hopefully any future GTA games would take the same lead, depending if Rockstar shares its staff around :P

I'm going to complete the game later, by doing that stranger mission near the Train Station in Blackwater (no point spoilering, not like the names or features are actually going to do anything for the gameplay :P)

My favourite thing at the moment is hog tying nuns and walking around. They're such quiet creatures, probably the best possessions in the game ;)
