View Full Version : Idea for Rare Values

Hi,
I was wondering for the merge, why don't habbox make a little script for themselves where people could select rares (and the amounts of each rare hey want) then calculate the cost of them?
I think this would be a fantastic feature to add to habbox, especially for room designers who want to quickly work out how much it will cost them to design a room. Basically they would simply click/type in a rare name, then have a quantity box where they type in how many of that rare they will need. They can add as many different rare's and amounts as they like, then once they have chosen everything they will need they press a button 'calculate'. This would then give them the total cost in either hc's or credits of what they want to buy.
I think would be beneficial for Habbox, because it would give them the advantage over other rare values site's without this feature. All the values would obviously be worked out by habbox's values, meaning traders would not have to work out everything doing more than one calculation. It would be easy to change the amount of items etc, so IMO it is 'win win' situation all around.
Thoughts?
I'll take a look on Sunday.

That can be done simply using basic Excel...

I am thinking about 11 year olds (who habbo is now aimed at) they would like to be able to press and type on a already made script.
It wouldn't help me, since I don't play much, however anything is good for the merge surely?

I think that something like this is in the pipeline but not until we sort some other things out first. :)

Ok :) I meant to post a few weeks ago and thought I did - but searched earlier and appeared to not have :p
That's a really good idea. +rep

I always thought there was something similar in the pipeline. Cheers for posting and I'm sure Joe and the rest of the gang can see what they can come up with after they sort of stuff out first. :D

Good :)
About to post another, probably less popular idea :P

It is an excellent idea and might help some people with large trades.
Blob suggested it in the other thread and i think you even quoted him lol...

You see I seem to remember something, but can't actually remember if I saw it or posted in the end lol :L

Is this really going to be as useful as you think? Imagine you need to make a big trade involving loads of rares and it'll obviously take a few days (or even up to weeks) to trade for everything. The value of a rare changes :O and you have to re-type everything into the calculator again to work out the new value of what you need :BangHead:. And once you trade for certain rares, you need to re-type everything again to see how much you need! You go to bed after a day and the next day, you have to re-type everything AGAIN :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead: :BangHead:!!
In Excel, all you need to do is change the value of the rare which had a change in value or the number of rares you need after making a trade and boom, everything is worked out in less than a second. At the end of the day, you can just save the spreadsheet and continue trading the next day.
I think you're better off just posting a tutorial on how to use Excel to do the calculations.

I do think it will be successful, and clearly it's not only me who thinks that.
It obviously won't be the EXACT value, but its 10,000 times quicker to click on a rare and then type a number (in terms of quantity) than it is to do calculations on excel.
Unless you have a better idea to attract people to habbox. Oh wait.
I mean I can see the advertisement now.. "ALL GO ON HABBOX.COM TO SEE A TUTORIAL ON HOW TO MAKE CALCULATIONS TO WORK OUT HOW MUCH THINGS WILL COST YOU. ALL YOU NEED IS EXCEL AND THE TIME AND EFFORT TO MAKE IT!!"
Just no.

What's the point if it's not going to be the exact value? And what do you even mean it's not going to be "exact"? You're just gonna throw out a random number? Yeah that's gonna help a lot.

Not if you have to do it every day.

I don't really care about attracting people to Habbox. I don't play Habbo anymore and I'm really inactive around the forums anyway. It's just I came across this and think the idea can be improved. Just because I'm criticising it doesn't mean I don't think it's a good idea. Stop getting so worked up over it.

It takes almost no time to make it. Wait, do you even know anything about Excel? Just type in the name, put a value, amount and equation in a row. Then drag down. Can't get easier.
Basically your idea is just a calculator on Habbox. If you use it once then yeah it's useful but if you require lots of stuff that will take a long time to trade for, then no, it's just a hassle to type in everything everyday. Just use any calculator. Can't be that hard punching in numbers.

Would be good if it saved ur list for you, then you could add/remove items from it or change quantities and it automatically updates when an items value changes.
Why don't I just make it to emulate excel in changing? :S
I don't see what point your making here really.

Exactly. Why do those processes when you could click?
And the sooner you stop sing the forums completely, I think is probably for the better :\
And what I said by it won't be the exact value, s you said if I was to do a huge trade then it could take a few days, so I said if you were going to take a few days then the chances are the value would have hanged slightly. So it wouldn't be the exact value.
I look forward to seeing the guide you are making for us DieselShaq.

Your list of items could be saved using cookies methinks.

Exactly what I've been trying to get at. Get the point people?

Yes. You can store and load cookies using javascript. It would be very cool if we implemented a favourite rarevalues box, and a quick script to sum up the total value of multiple rares.

Don't lie yourself. Clearly shows you didn't read what I wrote. I mentioned that Excel allows you to save, a feature that puts Excel over this idea you have, i.e. if you can save on this idea, it would be improved.

Personally I want users to come to habbox to keep this forum active. And most users do not tend to save loads of excel files about habbo (I think).
But you are making it out as the world's easiest thing so instead of moaning make the guide x

I love that idea and I would use it nearly every day. Also, I think Habbox should sort out Rare Values first.

I'm suggesting for a guide to be made. If I should make one because I suggest one, maybe you should make the calculator?

I am not suggesting what a horrifically easy thing it is to do. Personally I wouldn't, but you have made out how easy it is to make this thing on excel so do it.
Yes I can make calculations on excel but I m not suggesting that one.

I said it "can be done easily using basic Excel", where did you read "horrifically easy"? And "world's easiest thing" as well for that matter? I don't think I ever said it was easy to make the guide but talking to you, I think I realise how hard it is to make it easy for everyone to understand.
