Some ideas

How about moving 'Groups' link from under 'Community' and giving it its own separate bit on the navbar? It will be noticed more. Another idea is to create a forum for it and redirect it to the groups pages but I aint sure if thats a good idea.

Secondly, what about having rotating banner - either rotate on refresh or rotating in general like the Habbox.com side banner. This could be used to advertise competitions, events, Groups, etc etc etc.

When I said banner, I meant the actual top banner :P not an additional one. Just editing the banners to advertise things.

It would look odd with the way the the Site Skin is designed imo, not sure about the others. I'm not a fan of rotating banners I'm a bit of a simpleton and just like the name of the site at the top haha.

Haha thats fine :). Was just an idea to see what others think as its quite a good way of promoting things.

I've got a plugin written for another forum that does it, but like Oli says it will probably look odd and be a pain to maintain after a while.

I quite like the notification system for advertising things, especially considering it is used quite sparingly so it doesn't get annoying. While we have that system I don't think rotating banners would be of much benefit, except for special occasions like the HxSS (maybe keep a running total of team's scores on it or something?).

Am all for promoting groups more, I think it'll take more than moving it to the nav bar to make them relevant though.

On the point of things showing up on the nav bar, why is it that when you click on "new posts" half of the buttons disappear from it? Quite annoying and as I mainly use the new posts link once I've checked my usual haunts I assume plenty of other people do (because I do everything right obv) so it might be worth sticking more on there if possible

I personally like the idea of a rotating banner in a way, although on our current skins I don't think it would fit in very well.
