In the Meet the General Management event earlier, Jake asked an interesting question that I thought might create some interesting ideas or at least the basis of ideas. You can be as controversial as you like because it's all about what things you would do if no one would oppose it. I have put this in feedback because I would like to see some good come of it.
When posting though I ask one thing that I am going to enforce. If you make a point - back it up with why you would do it. So don't just post "I'd unban all members", tell us why. Otherwise this thread serves no feedback purpose. I'll simply remove posts that I think don't do this adequately and forum ban those who do it repeatedly, because it is essentially pointless posting!
Hopefully we can get some interesting and controversial ideas from this thread without it getting immediately shot down by management, and you never know - something good might come of it! When someone posts their suggestion, I will follow with one of my own :).
Fire the current forum manager.
Unfiler lmffao and omffg and many many other words that dont really cause offense
merge games with entertainment
merge comps and events
get rid of news
get rid of vip and just have donor (only feature would be a coloured username)
everyone 150x150 avatars and 700x300 sigs
everyone able to see rep
everyone able to edit there usertitle
better skins (less chunkyer ones and more slimline ones)
change the way staff structure is
get rid of assistant managers ( looks to me like the manager does nothing when there is one)
merge habboxlive site and habbox.com
ban all the mother ******* ugly sigs
merge all graphics forums then place them in general
move sports to entertainment.
fire all the content team ( dont see why you need so many tbh)
get rid of that "ex mgmt forum"
get rid of most of the staff forums ( staff dont seem to post on forums because they have them)

Merge the Trading section with the Habbo section so it was just one section, then have things like Super Rare Trading as subsections of it. I think it would look neater.

I agree with some of these, Graham. Obviously they are quite radical but yes, can you further yourself on how you'd changed the staff structure? I've always wanted to see the staff structure changed here for there to be a clear management, General Manager & Assistant General Manager, and then a Site Manager, Community Manager, Forum Manager & HabboxLive Manager & all the other dept managers.
I am going to expand on your Management one. Something I feel would receive a lot of opposition but I think on the whole makes sense. If I could, the structure would work something like this:
Senior Management
General Manager - Overall responsibility of all sites and departments.
Deputy General Manager - General Manager's direct assistant. In charge of day-to-day operational running of Habbox, the Forum and HxL.
Community Manager - Department Manager for Events, Competitions, HxHD and Rare Values and all things community.
Site Manager - In charge of Content, News and Graphics and general maintenance of the site.
Other
Forum Manager - in charge of running the Forum (overseen by General Manager and Deputy)
Radio Manager - in charge of running the Radio (overseen by General Manager and Deputy)
Assistant Community Management
Assistant Community Manager (Events) - in charge of the day to day running of the Events department and its staff.
Assistant Community Manager (Competitions) - in charge of the day to day running of the Competitions department and its staff.
Assistant Community Manager (HxHD) - in charge of the day to day running of HxHD and its staff.
Assistant Community Manager (Rare Values) - in charge of the day to day running of Rare Values and its staff.
Assistant Site Management
Assistant Site Manager (Content) - in charge of the day to day running of the Content department and its staff.
Assistant Site Manager (Graphics) - in charge of the day to day running of the Graphics department and its staff.
Assistant Site Manager (News) - in charge of the day to day running of the News Department and its staff.
Each Department would then be entitled to employ one or two Senior members of staff (depending on department size) who have very clear roles on what they do. It's not management but assistating the Assistant Manager on different areas.
It won't seem too different to the current system for most of you but in my head and if it were properly implemented I can see it benefiting as it would improve inter-department communication and really bring the Management team closer together. Assistant Community Managers would be able to see all Community forums and the same for Assistant Site Management. It would be a tighter knit and more effective Management team.
I am quite confident all of our current staff would hate it though :P.

What we used to do at Habbox back in 2006 was have big management meetings where we could discuss big projects, these were quite good for things like this.

First thing i would do its remove the green names from sierk and jin (they arent active, yes the own the site but it makes it seem like the play a role in it) would give them vip or another colour but they would still have there powers init. Then it would go like this

General Manager
Deputy GM ( would deal with staff perms and running of habbox like garion said)
Site Manager
Community Manager
Managers
Forum Manager
Graphics Manager
Radio Manager
Rare Values Manager
HxHD would be gone and changed into a lounge where all managers would have rights. Competitions would be merged with events and people would be separated into Forum Events and Client Events. Mods would be able to infract staff (less face it they are not equal like seirk thinks they are). No assistant managers because they really arent needed.

I suggested that to Roxy about a month or more ago, she said she'd rather just talk to separate managers. I think it would be good for us all to have a meeting share/discuss ideas with each other!
Also (obviously i would say this but yeah..) I think there should be 2 radio managers if anything going by garions staff structure. We need to manage all the DJs as well as a separate site. I don't see how certain departments currently need assistant managers i.e competitions, events, hxhd, news.

It was really good, Laurence simply kicked managers who pissed about and it ended up about 5 of us who were the most dedicated who had a chat and helped eachother out quite a bit.

Urm, that's a difficult question tbh lol.
I'd quite like to change the staffing structure back to the old one back in like 05, that was pretty basic whereas this one seems a bit more complex, or go down the route of HF and be 'volunteers' rather than staff because it sounds nicer.
i'd perhaps introduce some new skins and some other stuff that i can't think of..
but im pretty happy with things the way they are

yeah, i know it's rude because they try their best. it's not even that it's too strict. i just would prefer active, respected members of the community. preposterous when he was a mod didn't get any crap because he was fair, well liked, respected, been here for years. i think they should be shining lights of the forum. i.e. people like gommeinc for feedback. geraint for sports. undertaker for political crap. someone for habbo etc etc.

I'd get rid of the 'approval' system that managers have to go through to get things done. Managers should be allowed to get on with things and the AGMs just check up on what they're doing rather than saying "no, do this, do that" etc. Mistakes will happen but every once in a while, there may be something new and original that may not get through the current red tape system in place.

This part in particular please. I've said many times in many threads why this ought to be done and why there's no need for the two to be separate, and it seems the only people opposed to such an idea are the comps staff.

I'd do this obv mostly because I like my friends, hence them being friends, but also because management teams who get on well can run things better. As far as I'm aware the current team are pretty close so it's not really a problem right now but I know there have been divides in the past (usually with one group of ultra-loyalists to the GM, one group of rebz managers angry at not getting their ideas all put in and Garion on both sides) and that's not a healthy working environment which is kinda important when you're trying to run a forum of this size.
Not sure why people keep making up the Deputy GM role in the revisions of management team, if you're gonna delegate then might as well do it without creating a new job. If upper management continue to be as active as they currently seem to be then various aspects of the FM job can probably be taken up by the GM and AGMs and main changes and such can be discussed amongst them all as should really be the case anyway. I do totally agree that a smaller management team would be beneficial though - it's easier to run and with less dependancy on separate managers things can get done quicker and without conflict.

Disable post count in discuss anything (becos ppl are takin the piss)
Don't allow people to change their usernames to a permed username
Have more sub forums in the music section for different genres (easier to browse your fav music genre)
Reset usernotes at the new year (new year, new start)

+ i would make ALL staff have their name on habbo. suggested this in the room yesterday. because for example when barmi goes on habbo people recognise him as the "ch guy" when xxMattGxx or whatever ur newb name is matt people don't

My Habbo name is Nixt but it is banned until June 14th for an unfair reason. I wouldn't be too against changing my forum name to Nixt and I do agree in terms of Habbo Hotel presence it would be beneficial. I can understand why Matthew doesn't want xxMattGxx though (lol) but equally I see your point about senior management in particular.

It's only the "community" sections that have to currently I thought, and yeah Matt should probably be less of a noob with his names, he needs to find an account that's 100% True Habbo (or who will take him seriously :S:S:S) and doesn't have a gay name

As far as I remember it is only the community departments that have to have their habbo name.
Forum, Content and Graphics don't need their Habbo names. Anything that requires the use of Habbo requires the use of your Habbo name as your forum name. So as said above that means community departments but also News.

Ah OK. I think if that was changed for management, might as well be changed for the whole staff groupings. Also, Matt made his name so long ago it makes it even better. He could have had a leet name like Immenseman, made in 2006.

I did have it. But then well it went missing, (THANKS SULAKE). Although the account MattGarner is on the USA/CA hotel, so I think that might be the reason. I don't believe I have ever owned that one though, so I'm not a happy bunny.

I am not going to make non-community departments change their names to Habbo names. It's unreasonable and pointless. I think, as I am the only member of General Management without my Habbo name, it might be a possibility that I change.

That's a good idea Jake. The one about older members ALSO getting new features, instead of just the whole new members need features thing. Would +Rep you if I could.
In terms of staffing I would have:
General Manager - The 'boss'. Every big decision made would run through whoever this person is. Jin/Sierk choose who get's this role.
Deputy General Manager - Same as above, works closely with GM.
Forum Manager - Only involved in forum based issues etc. Also moderation manager.
Features Manager - Usernames, rep, staff editor, vip etc etc
Community Manager - Events and Competitions in one. This would also be the person involved with HxHD
Deputy Community Manager - Same as the above, the deputy would most likely take charge of a certain area
HabboxLive Manager - Runs the radio
Rare Values Manager - Deals with all rare values stuff
Deputy Rare Values Manager - Same as above.
News Manager - In charge of news. No deputy needed.
Site Content and Design Manager - Deals with habbox.com content. This section would include coders.
Deputy SC&D Manager - Same as above.
Staff should also have the power to hire and fire people without the approval of the General Manager etc. They should have more of say about how the department is run, without other people who are unaware about how to run the department getting involved.

Make sure older users get new features, at the same time as all this inclusive crap for new members.

To be fair I don't see any problem with how we do things currently. We don't require approval for everything other than big things. All we ask for is communication - just being cc'd into PMs and involved in discussions as much as possible, this doesn't really slow anything down.

tbh I don't really see the issue, I haven't been stopped from doing what I want (without good reason) once.

Communication is pretty high on my list of priorities, hence my PMs / threads about it and my efforts to ensure we're communicating with one another, the meetings etc. If you are having serious issues with anyone please do PM me and I will endeavour to sort it out.

Someone was saying recently how there are hardly any Habbo-related forums compared to non-Habbo so this would be en excellent idea because it would look better to have one big Habbo section than two small insignificant ones.
