The minimum wage for 16 and 17 year olds is £3.57 and I think it's disgustingly low because 16 and 17 year old often do the EXACT same job as older people such as in a restaurant yet 18 year olds get paid a hell of a lot more and I find this ridiculous and want it raised for all the 16 and 17 year olds.

It's rising to £3.64

The reason it is lower is because it is likely that younger people don't have as much outgoings. Like they don't have children etc. If they do then they're just stupid and deserve to be paid a low wage on that basis. Most jobs don't pay that low anyway. When I was 16 / 17 I was in a job earning £6.45 ph

It's low because the vast majority of 16-18 year olds are unskilled and lack work experience. If it were the same across the board it would be very difficult to get a job at that age. Lots of people work illegally for cash in hand jobs below minimum wage when they actually need the money to put food on the table and pay rent and bills anyway.
