A schoolgirl was raped at an open-air party in a park where teenagers were celebrating the end of their GCSE exams. The 15-year-old was attacked as more than 100 youngsters gathered for the unofficial event at Hardwick Heath in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
Suffolk Police said the girl was found in a distressed state in the 55-acre park shortly after 10pm on Friday.

She was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital in the town. Officers later launched a rape inquiry.
It is believed that the girl was attacked some time between 8pm and the time she was found in the park.
Suffolk Police spokeswoman AnneMarie Breach said police were trying to track down all the young people at the party.
She said: 'A police patrol received a report of a distressed girl in the area at about 10pm. Officers found her near Hardwick Gardens soon after and took her to hospital.
'It is known about 100 young people were gathered on the heath between 8pm and 11pm on Friday night and police need to speak to them and anyone else who was in the area between these times to gather a full picture of what happened.'
Hardwick Heath, which is popular with dogwalkers, has been used as an unofficial party venue by teenagers marking the end of exams for many years.
People living nearby say they have grown used to the unofficial annual event taking place.
One resident said: 'Every year they gather after the exams are over and it has turned into a celebration for finishing school for the summer.
'It can get a bit loud, but on the whole they are just out to enjoy themselves and I haven't heard of any trouble before.'

Meh, I bet 110% they were all drinking too. I dont believe in teenagers drinking outside in the woods anyways, but here the result of a girl being raped.

Corr, you two are a bit narrow minded! :O Open air parties happen all the time, and seeing as Suffolk is mostly countryside to the west of the county, it would indeed be common.
Nothing else to really say, hopefully the girl will feel comfortable looking into evidence and maybe picking whoever raped her out.

my thinks are the person or people who raped her are someone who wouldn't properly get it in a million years.

Mehhh I think my one was a bit better on Friday, about 50 of us trespassing on the school field for a party till 5am.
Of course the rape is wrong and goodness knows why people didn't intervene but what's wrong with people drinking?

Even worst, she could have got murdered in the countryside...

Lol, If I raped her, I say, "wouldnt she know due to her being drunk and could be confused?"

Drinking is illegal under the age of 18.

So what if drinking is illegal if your under-age?
Everybody does it when they're younger, im under-age still and i go to the town on a night out occasionally too, isn't hard to get alcohol no matter where you are lol.
On-topic, real shame she got raped, when i left school we drank all night long till morning and more or less everybody went home blazing drunk still lollll.

They still have no right to rape her, if they think she's attractive or not. If he/her wanted to have sex with her then she has to feel the same way back.

this is why you should wait until you're 18 to drink.

Age is but a number
I'm only 14 and I could easily control my drinking and what I do if I were to get drunk which is unlikely.

don't be silly, im assuming you've never drank when you've been under-age? not even a little? pft.
this is just an un-fortunate happening that will no doubt be blamed on "under-age" drinking.

i agree with you to some extent, i think be able to "control" your level of drunkness depends on how often you drink etc.
if you haven't drank before then obviously your going to be steaming drunk if you have say 8 cans, however this would be different if you drank more regularly.
i don't think age has anything to do with being able to control your level of drunkness.
also when your heavily intoxicated there's no denying you do stupid things which you would probably never do when you were sober, so controlling what you would usually do when sober becomes harder the more you drink.

Where does it say she was raped infront of everyone? :S It says she was found, so I'm guessing she was dragged somewhere or was hanging around the heathland when it happened.

Everyone celebrates the end of lessons. They still have to suffer the exams :P My auntie had to say goodbye to her Year 11s on Friday, and now they start the gruelling task of doing their GCSEs :D

Where does it say the rapers had the right? I didnt say anything about that, I just said it 'might' be someone who wanted to get 'laid' with her

Are you sure? Im surely not you cannot hold your drink

8 Cans? are we talking about cider here or what? I know for a fact that 8 cans for me is way enough, the only time I drank more than that was new years eve and I was sick too. Teenagers dont know when to stop drinking. FACT.

Teenagers dont know when to stop drinking. FACT.Sorry but in what way is that a fact? Some teenagers don't know when to stop drinking agreed, but exactly the same applies to adults. You can't just generalise like that and tbh some people just go out to get pissed which is different to not knowing when to stop.
As for the cans it doesn't really matter, cider is a similar alcohol percentage to beer (Slightly higher at times but pretty much the same).

I disagree. I myself personally don't drink but I don't think age is a issue when it comes to drinking, it's more about how responsible you are, even a 18 year old could end up in a situation like these kids.
Whoever raped that girl sick and I do feel sorry for her.
Real shame that it turned out like that. Ours was open top on a field (every year its been there) and police are very vigilant although nothing happens, they just pour your beer away. The locals around there seem pretty laid back

She got raped, its sick we have established how horrible it is years ago. As for people linking it back to alcohol, I hate when people blame the drink. Alcohol is not the problem whether someone is under aged or not. I hope she makes a full recovery from the traumatic event and give the police some good links to work on.

A tenner says the one that raped her turns out to be someone in her year, at that party, that she knows.

this is why i hate under age drinking. srsly, can't you have fun without getting completely pissed? urgh sgrengerigng
i feel bad about her getting raped but if teens nowadays could find other ways then getting drunk on a hill to have fun, this clearly never would have happened.
& whoever doesn't blame drinking? = In humans, common symptoms may include slurred speech, euphoria, impaired balance, poor coordination, flushed face, reddened eyes, reduced inhibition, and erratic behavior.

So, they're adults, they allowed to drink..They drink in a 'PUB' not outside on a field dude, hence the reason adults dont get raped. This is why drinking in public places was banned, to reduce rape on adults as you are not protected when your drinking in a field. A pub is perfectly safe, CCTV and a taxi picks you up or walk down the street with your mates.

This is why drinking in public places was banned, to reduce rape on adults as you are not protected when your drinking in a field. A pub is perfectly safe, CCTV and a taxi picks you up or walk down the street with your mates. There's many reasons why drinking in public is banned, I believe the likelihood of anti-social behaviour and the fact it's not attractive are the main reasons behind it. I'm afraid drinking is not as clear as that, people in their 20s frequently go out and get pissed and many get into fights etc between clubs in public. The fact is, many adults get raped every day unfortunately so I've no idea why you put "Hence the reason adults dont get raped." - Who on earth are you kidding there? :P Teens unfortunately get raped quite often because they're obviously vulnerable targets, drunk or not.
