OK so I'm considering buying/assembling another computer for gaming (been a long time), but before I do, I want to see if I really need to.

Specs atm (it's a laptop so I can't upgrade much):
- 4GB DDR2 SDRAM
- 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo
- 200GB/5400rpm HDD
- 256MB GeForce 8600M GT

I upgraded to 4GB crucial from 2GB, but apparently for £8,243,2948 I can upgrade (unofficially) to 6GB.

I'm looking to play next-gen games. Otherwise, is £400-500 enough to spend on a decent one?

Youre not gonna be able to play anything decent on that i'm afraid

I'd take the £8m upgrade to 6GB to be honest. Bargain.

A £400-500 desktop computer would easily out perform that laptop for games.

I have the 8400M GT and its pretty much useless for gaming.
