Recently I had an idea.. we all get +repps right? But whats the point in them apart from the green little blocks you get? Well there isn't much.. some people dont care about rep and even disable it.

So what I thought is, why dont we exchange our reputation points for stuff? For example, 500 reputation points for 1 month of Donator, 1000 rep points for VIP. However, there could be other stuff too like, exchanging for usertitles etc.

but then the amount of people buying donator will decrease as people would just trade. which therefore means less income for ze forum.

i don't think it matters if it's not by a lot because at the end of the day, every penny counts.

a lot of people give +rep for nothing though, you get it for just being liked so it wouldn't really be fair that they're most likely to get it while others have to pay

well its not really income cos they give it away to charity. but it will improve the forum and make it more interesting. people will actually start caring about rep.

charity vip is only done like once or twice a year (i know it's at xmas but dunno if theres another date aswell), so during the rest of the year, donator goes towards the up-keeping of the forum and whatever else they need to pay for afaik.

and trading rep for donator doesn't really make the forum interesting lol. just means more people will have donator who didn't pay for it - which is a bad thing.

I've gotta say not very many people disable reputation and a lot of people do care about the reputation they receive. It's a nice idea in principle but I can't say the reputation system is that disused and the implementation of such a system would be detrimental to Habbox financially.

not rlly. people will start caring about reputation and will +rep and -rep carefully..
like i said, its not only donator what could be awarded, its other things too like usertitle changes, name changes etc.

I've seen similar systems on other forums such as a points system. But it's not really suited for HabboxForum and like people have mentioned here: you can get +rep for anything to be honest. Not only that we wouldn't like to have less people buying donator due to this system which helps to keep the websites up and running for us all.

HTML usertitles and name changes to any available name is a key feature for VIP which we use to award users on the forum for whatever reason. (Competitions etc). We wouldn't want to make it so users could get this on a daily basis through points/reputation, there would be no point of VIP really.

Not sure how indicative of average rep that is tbh, I'm sure plenty of people don't have huge amounts (especially newer members - partly due to not being here long and partly due to the changes in rep power that crippled it all in the first place) but bringing up your own number shows an important flaw in this: the "costs". You said 500 for a month of Donator, 1000 for VIP, and yeah fair enough that might be some small incentive to work to, but under the current system it'd be fairly difficult to get that much unless you set up rep rings which would be flooding in a load of pointless reps and doesn't really help anything. You said yourself you have under 500 in 2 years, so I can't see people repping every day in the hope of getting some back so that in 2 years they can have a month of free Donator. Any higher charge and it'd be rendered even more unlikely (and no-one would bother), any lower and hey check me out using 8500 rep points to get years of free VIP and take money away from the site/forum.

In all honesty Habbox has given out way too much free VIP in recent years. To the extent that the number of users with VIP is over double the number of users who purchase donator - which is horrific for Habbox financially.

Reputation is a good system, don't forget every 400 points you get rewarded with +1 rep power.
