Everyone uses slang words. Different countries have different slang words, different towns, even different groups of people. There's a lot of people from so many different countries that hang around here, and I've heard so many slang words that I've never even imagined, and now I want to hear some more!

Yes, mine is hammer! This is because in America it means something completely different to what we use it for in the UK. In American slang, Americans use it as accelerator. For example, "put your foot on the hammer, we're going to be late" - total different meaning if you said that in the UK, people would be most confused :L

An Australian slang term: Bushman's hanky

Emitting nasal mucus by placing one index finger on the outside of the nose (thus blocking one nostril) and blowing.

Blow me - England

When an English colleague of mine exclaimed "Blow Me" in front of a large American audience, he brought the house down. It is simply an exclamation of surprise, short for "Blow me down", meaning something like I am so surprised you could knock me over just by blowing. Similar to "Well knock me down with a feather". It is not a request for services to be performed.

also in scotland we say 'how' for 'why' often (eg how no), so when someone from england told me they went shopping and i replied "how" they answered "i got on the train....."
we're so backward here ;l

roommate chicken - The condition where a group of people sharing a living space each avoid doing a household chore for an extended period because each believes it's someone else's responsibility. The idea is that eventually the situation will reach a critical mass where the guilty party will cave in and do the chore. In practice, the situation can escalate to extreme levels. dunno where its from.

"Crikey!"
Originally from Australia, it means 'Wow' or 'My God!' and is sometimes used as a 'Minced Oath' meaning to alter certain characteristics to censor words or make them more weaker; for example instead of saying 'Hell', people say 'Heck' and instead of saying 'Damn', people say 'Darn' or 'Dang'.
