Sounds a lot better but the design isn't as sleek as I would have imagined but still looks great!
Yeah, if I had a job I would definitely get one.
I think the design will look a lot better irl. The iPhone 3GS looked crap in photos.

If you're contract is coming to an end, yes.
O2, Orange, and Vodafone have all so far confirmed that they will be carrying it.
Can't wait for the pre-order form to come up on the Apple/O2 website. :D

Otherwise it wouldnt be called an upgrade if your contact was ending? lol

O2 have hinted at doing a similar deal to what AT&T are doing for early upgrades, and are also going to be supplying micro sims early for people on launch day.
Ive decided im buying :) even if they dont offer me an early upgrade. Its gonna cost about £200 i think, because i can trade in my 3GS at mazuma or something and get £230 :)
is it 200 pound PLUS your contract?

im already on contract so if they dont do the early upgrade for me, ill stay on my 24 month contract which began last august and only have 15 months left. which means when the new one comes out next year, i can get that one too XD

theyre definitely selling it in the US on PAYG, as it has prices in the small print ($499, $599 etc) and i dont see why they would in the UK

http://www.apple.com/iphone/compare-iphones/#footnote-1
For those who are not eligible for an early upgrade or who wish to buy iPhone as a gift, the prices are $499 (8GB), $599 (16GB), or $699 (32GB).

Hmm that will more than likely mean 16GB = £499, and 32GB = £549/599 in UK on PayG.
If the 32GB is £549 I may be tempted, however if it's £599 I don't see the point in paying an extra £100 for 16GB extra flash memory.

well the UK prices of the 3GS 16GB is £449 when it should be more £500 based on exchange rates and tax, so im not sure tbh lol. even if its £500 though, ill be buying i think. And nope, neither do I lol. I havent filled my current one tbh. in fact, i dont think ive even filled 8gb O_O

The 3GS 8GB will come down to £399, iPhone 4 16GB £499 and the iPhone 4 32GB £599.
I think the above is inevitable. If they are any higher it will be outragous. I'd be happy to pay £499 providing I can get £200 for my unlocked 3G that is. :P
Hope its PayG on 02 aswell, I like how they bundle other extras in also such as free wifi in public places etc.

Really difficult to say. Different countries with the Euro sell things for different prices. All I remember is that the Netherlands are notorious for phones, but I'm guessing you're Irish? Like someone else said, it may be roughly the same as it is in pound sterling regarding exchange rates.

So you're parents don't buy you anything? I really, really doubt that. EMA gives the poorer children, who lets face it often go down wrong paths, e.g. Drugs and Drink, an incentive to do well at school and to stay on at school. I agree EVERYONE should get some sort of money, at least £10. But when people like the above start spewing crap that it should be scrapped just because they don't get any, I really don't care, they don't deserve it with that sort of attitude.

no, they dont. They buy food and drink, but thats it. I bought my 32" TV, xbox, ps3, computer, new furniture, everything. I even bought them a laptop and have saved £4000 for uni. if poor children often go down wrong paths, what do you think giving them £30 a week FREE is going to do? you just gave them the tools to buy drugs and put no effort into funding it themselves.

I wish I knew what their PAYG pricing plans are going to be. I really can't wait. I've registered with Apple, O2 and Orange for them to e-mail me with details, I am that eager! :P
@Above; I'm glad we agree with one point, but when people who are narrow minded and who don't think about the bigger picture (THAT SOME FAMILIES REALLY ARE STRUGGLING), I just think hell with it, why should I bother saying everyone should get it when they're just probably spoiled and are throwing their dummies out the pram because they don't get an extra £10 a week.
I also agree with your view that SOME people will use it to buy drugs and drink, but most really, really don't. I spent mine on school equipment, but lets face it with £30 a week I'm going to have a Surplus, so I may as well save it for something I'd treasure?

Well no, I agree, struggling families should get EMA, but then they should not be spending them on unndeeded items like the latest "must have" phone.
And to be fair, I agree with Kk. the people with work experiance beyond what is setup by their school are more likely to get a job, hey, I'm not jelous of EMA before anyone says that, I do on and off hours for a local school as their IT Techie and manage £200 or so a month.

Totally agree with this, it's what i've been thinking for a long time. It should be changed.
O2 have an early upgrade offer calculator up!!
http://shop.o2.co.uk/new-iphone/earlyupgradeoffer.html
according to this, i'll have to pay £260 to end my contract, and be able to upgrade to the iPhone 4. But, #2, it may mean i have to pay the price of the phone. So im a bit confused lol. I paid £80 for my 16gb back in august last year. so assuming its the same, ill be on a new 24 month contract, and have paid £340. So ill be paying around £110 (selling iphone 3gs for around £230)
now, what i cant decide is whether to pay £450 for a new iphone, keep my current contract which expires in august next year, and sell my current phone. so ill be paying around the £220 mark. its double, but it means im saving £5 per month for 9 months until i downgrade, and am able to get the new iphone next year cheap cus of upgrading.

Wooo, an EMA argument :P The whole EMA system needs to be scrapped. "nuff said"
Giving money out to students is a terrible idea, and if people need an incentive like money to go to school then they should hire some people to go around these peoples' homes and slap them with a haddock until they canny take no more. Students + money = bad idea, just give them the equipment/transport costs and it's guaranteed to not be a drain of funds, seeing as transport costs do not have a set price so the government could get students on transport for barely anything, seeing as alot of these transport companies are government funded anyway, so it's less government money wasted on people who spend it on the wrong thing (the EMA website strictly states it's for educational purposes, not iPhones, drugs, alcohol, TVs etc). The people who do deserve will not be treated any differently, seeing as they're spending it on the right thing anyway. And donating it is a waste of time and money, especially on the family because they should be entitled to some other type of benefit anyway.
/rant over about why the EMA is a stupid system.
Anyway, with that over :P Are there anymore rumours as to the price of the phone, or is it still hush-hush for now?

Wow, another narrow minded reply. You make it sound like they're just throwing money at us, they may do that at your schools, but they don't at mine. I have to be up to date with my coursework, my coursework must be up the standard of my predicted grade for the course. If I do not keep up with this I do NOT get my EMA. If I miss ANY lessons during the week I DO NOT get my EMA, even If I am legitimately ill. If I miss any days during the week I will NOT get my £30. If I miss behave in anyway (our school calls it getting a 'notice of concern'), this can very from bad language, anything 'against the rules', I will NOT get my EMA for the week and will NOT be illegable for my Semi-Annual bonus.
And another thing, you guys HAVE TOTALLY MISSED THE POINT. The only money I'm going to be putting towards the new iPhone is my SUMMER BONUS, of which I will only receive if I -
- Pass my Course
- And must be up to my predicted grades
- VERY GOOD behaviour (no notices of concern)
- 95% attendance during the year, illness is NOT taken into consideration
I don't know about the school's you guys go to, but you sound like they throw the money at us. Well not at mine, I work for my EMA, I work damn hard for it. I don't miss school, I do well at school, I behave, I revise, I do my work, I pass my tests. I earn my EMA, so therefore I DESERVE IT.
Yes I agree EVERYONE SHOULD GET SOMETHING, but lets face it, it's not going to happen, if your 'richer' families don't give you money or are unfair to you, then you have family problems. The fact is my family struggle to put food on our tables let alone giving money to their children.
Be fortunate for what you have, and don't be so narrow minded and stuck up, and actually be grateful for what you have.

Very typical response ;) It makes sense not to have it in an economic sense. At college they had exactly the same system as yours, that you had to attend college to get it following strict guidelines - this means very little as education should be a right, not something you're paid to do, especially on people who'll spend it on rubbish seeing as cash/money is non-controllable. The EMA is for educational purposes, including any bonuses. This is why it would be beneficial just to let the government give out transport passes and/or equipment, as the transport costs would not cost the government that much, seeing as public transport is mostly paid for by the taxpayer, the only cost would be equipment which barely costs alot in the first place.
It's a system that should be scrapped or heavily regulated, seeing as the current system is unfair to large families who are just outside the £10 threshold :/
O2 have announced there tariff details... pretty rubbish i thought. theyve decreased the unlimited internet to 500mb, one of the lowest around.

So in a nut shell you are saying I don't earn my £1000 per year for passing my grades and going to school every single day and doing well? thanks. The reason our country is up the swanny is because of people like you putting young people of our country down, well done.
What amazes me is you fail to see the bigger picture. You completely ignore it in EVERY SINGLE post on this subject. the poorer are getting poorer, the richer are getting richer, £30 a week is a hell of a lot for someone like me, I basically live off of it. I have around £10 surplus after every weeks EMA which I save, for something that I know I will look after.
@Above; yeah I am going to go on PAYG and get the £15 12 month Simplicity deal I think. I will get 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500mb Internet data + Unlimited Wi-Fi.

O2 have announced there tariff details... pretty rubbish i thought. theyve decreased the unlimited internet to 500mb, one of the lowest around.

I want to know what the PAYGO price is going to be... I had no intention of changing my tariff and losing my unlimited everything :D

It's planned to be a contract, with you paying £200 FOR the handset. It won't be RRP of £200 ;)
It's also planned that an 8 gig 3GS will be released. It does look alright i guess. The main changes are camera, design, back cover ("gorilla" glass), and of course multi-tasking. Of course finally it can multi-task.
People will pay the prices for it. You'll probably find that some of the features won't be available until updates are released though ;).

No doubt. Even the networks are being tightlipped to their dealers and their network stores. Information is trickling out to us, but it's annoying. Most stores are letting you register for one, but in their terms it states you're not automatically getting one... first come first served.
I think they'll release some, then they'll go like the 3gs. Harder to get a hold of than an escaped paedophile out of an open prison.

What robbie said. I'm selling my current iPhone so I'm only going to have to pay a small amount. It wouldve been less if I took up o2s upgrade offer, but I don't want to tie myself in to another 2 year contact just yet. If you think like that anyway, you may as well never buy any technology.
And as I've said before.. You never moan at other manufacturers,
just apple. Apple bring out 1 phone each year, other bring out probably about 10.. Take nokia, they do NXY then they'll do an NXY mini.

lol. was pretty happy with my sale. was only the first generation, alright condition (has a dent and few scratches on back on one on screen) and i sold it for 175 quid. considering i bought it for around 170/180 inc. delivery just under 2 years ago, didn't really lose any money. now i gotta save up as much as possible and hope vodafone will give me a reduced contract plus allowing me to only pay around 200/300 quid for the phone when i upgrade :( if not, i dunno what i'll do lol.

Regarding your last comment. Nokia is a phone maker who make phones all the time, Apple make multiple products which support them throughout the year. Meaning Nokia have to keep producing products which get sales to keep them in business.

yes, but what i was getting at was that he was bashing apple and us for buying a phone which actually has mroe than 1 feature added to it, for a high price. I was basically saying that other companies do this as well, and that sometimes the only thing they change is the megapixels on the camera, or just make it smaller. Apple develop one product and sell it.

It is a very expensive phone as you can buy other great things with the amount it costs. Although I suppose it isn't half as bad if you can see the older model for a good amount of money and then get he newer version. I think this is probably the only phone can hold its value for so long.

ok so lets work this out.
the N97 you can sell for £120 at mazuma mobile. Now assuming you are upgrading to the N97 mini. This N97M costs £400 at CW. This means that the total phone price is, assuming you sell, £280. Ok, sounds alright.
Now, the 3GS 16GB. You can sell this for £227 on mazuma mobile. Assuming youre upgrading to the iPhone 4 16GB, the phone price costs £500. Ok, sounds a lot. But after selling, this price comes tumbling down to 273.
So, you get, imo, a better mobile, for a cheaper price.

Just dont cut it too short the first time, get shorter and shorter so eventually it fits, the only part of the SIM that has anything in it is literally the bit under the gold contacts :P
Ill just wait. They're apparently being sent out in batches so I won't worry until 23rd :P and I don't think they'll be short

Buy your new iPhone 4 from O2 (on sale from 24 June). You'll get a micro sim when you buy iPhone 4 in the shop, right on the spot.
If you order iPhone 4 through customer service (or online, when it's available), your micro sim will come with your iPhone 4.
If you have pre-ordered iPhone 4 directly from Apple you can get an O2 micro sim from any O2 shop. Simply go to an O2 shop any time from Monday 21 June and bring along your pre-order confirmation email from Apple. You'll need to show it in order to get your micro sim.
