Can't see if its been suggested or not already, but I think there should be a completely seperate forum for the World Cup. It's a major thing and think would attract some people to the forum.

Na, it's fine as it is.

I think it should. There will be a lot posted about it, so why not have it's own forum?
I agree with this. I think a temporary forum for the World Cup would be good and will mean more people, not just those who are established within sports, will be more inclined to post about it. We will wait and see what people think :).

It will render the sports forum useless, with the only other sports being discussed are formula 1 and cricket, between 2-4members.

Sub-category would do me quite well... But that's just me.

But I'm sure people who want to talk about other things in the sports section would get a bit fed up. Plus it's easier from everyone if its in one forum. Also I think there'd be more spirit and stuff

I am inclined to agree with Wootzeh here, the Sports Forum gets hardly any use apart from for Football - the only football thing to discuss over the next month or so will be the World Cup.
Creating a sub-forum or forum for the World Cup would make the Sports Forum a ghost town, I think it's quite good that the Sports Forum is the centre of all this World Cup action and it's allowing what is usually quite a close-knit section to open up to other users too.
I'm open to opinion though and if most people think it's a good idea I'm willing to reconsider, although I really do think this will benefit the sports forum.

The sports forum is small as it is, so I don't really see a need for creating another one with the same purpose..
If people were to join specifically to talk about the World Cup (which I think is highly unlikely - it's a Habbo fansite), surely they'd leave after the "World Cup Forum" was removed? But if it was all in the Sports.. they'd be more inclined to stay as they'd see other discussions.

Surley its the world cup forum then if thats all its being used for
Maybe the sports forum should have a sub-forum?
Even though the sports forum rarely gets used, if somebody does wish to use it, their post probably wont get read.
It takes about 30 seconds to create a sub forum (since you can copy permissions). So it would be beneficial and wouldn't require any time to do :)
Then once the world cup is over, move them to the sports forum :P

Agreed with Stryderman. :P
Good Idea, just sticky a thread or two.
I wouldn't want to confine all world cup discussion to one thread though? Generic discussion maybe but certainly not for all the matches, particularly the England matches and the finals.

But surely if you created something just for sep matches youd get alot more than the england matches, Youd have someone creating every thread for every game then people creating threads like:
England to win
Greece to win
USA to win
Why england should win
Why USA should win
Whos your fav england player
Whos your fav greek player
Whats been your best goal in the world cup so far
Whats been your fav match in the world cup so far?
When surely that could all just be posted into the sports section, I mean i know its not up to me or anything thats just my opinion i think it would just either get spammed too much or hardly touched. :P

Give it it's own forum I swear the Olympics got one and they're pretty much the same size events in terms of people following it. I've no doubt you'd get enough posts/threads to make it worth it. It's only for a month after all.

Yeh cos i mean spammed not threads bein made like takin the piss :P
Its up to you at the end of the day thought id say my opinion
To say that the only thing that will happen in the football world is the World Cup is silly. There may not be any football competitions but that, but there maybe news on managers leaving etc etc. that may not be related to the world cup.
Putting everything in one thread isn't good, because I would like to discuss everything within the world cup and after a while it would just get confusing and go all over the place. If we are putting a campaign with world cup events etc. then a World Cup forum would serve much logic.

As well as tennis, this is true.

There are hardly any Sports section regulars who don't like football.
While I don't think a completely separate forum is necessary, it will get a bit overwhelming when people start making a new thread for every single match. Perhaps it would be ideal to make an official thread for each group (i.e. separate threads for Group A, Group B, Group C, etc)? People can then talk about individual matches within these - relatively speaking only very few matches will be discussed anyway (like England's for example, and there are five or six days between each of those so it would leave ample time for discussion to take place all within the same thread). Then at the later stages of the tournament, quarter and semi-final threads could be made as appropriate. In fact if this was done, then a sub-forum could be useful and wouldn't adversely affect the overall usage of the Sports section itself.
