Swallowing pills

How do.

I need help swallowing pills. Got some multivitamin pills and I'm no good at swallowing them, never have been. I have been practising with smarties and managed to get 2 down, but they are much smaller than these pills. What I did was fill my mouth with water, chuck the smartie in and gulp. Tried with a pill but it wouldn't go.

I believe it's more psychological than anything else so I'd appreciate any help.

I could never do it then i started eatin smarties but i had like alot in my mouth and didnt bite them just tried swallowing.

With tablets i jus put it at the back of my throat an get some coke or somethin fizzy an wash it down sometimes i cant do it but just keep tryin jus try not to think about it being there just that your drinkin it usually works for me.

What I do it have a little drink, then lean my head back and drop the tablets down my throat then take a big drink in big gulps and they just go down.

You don't have to drop the tablets down your throats, but the further you put them in the easier it is. oh and don't feel like you have to swallow more than one pill at a time, one at a time is fiiiine.

Right I'll give those ideas a try now. I'm only taking 1 per day so it'll only be 1 at a time. :P Here goes...

i could never do it until a few weeks back just think to yourself 'I can swallow these' then put them i ur mouth a get a big gulp of water and swallow the water u have in ur mouth in one gulp.


Remember you can swallow them its just your brain telling you u cant


Trust me on this I couldn't take tablet for 18 years and now I can.

Just swallowed one, took a few attempts but got there in the end. I just put a gulp full size amount of water in my mouth (no more than 1 gulp full), chucked the pill in and gulped the water. Felt it get stuck so gulped more and it finally went. Can feel it somewhere in my throat now though lol.

I never used to be able to swallow pills either. Just put one at a time in, place it on your tongue, and drink as much water as needed untill it has gone down your throat.

yeah i get water to the back on my throat then chuck them in and down they go without touching the sides.

You should put the pill in your mouth then drink the water normally and it'll go down with the water.

i used to not be able to swallow them but id get like a biscuit or something and chew it up, then put the pill in and then swallow. if you just use water you can still feel where the pill is and be less likely to swallow it, but because the biscuits hard you dont where it is :) obvs as you get more used to taking it change to water or just take the pill on its own

I can swallow pills dry and I can tell you that having difficulty swallowing pills is purely psychological. You'll get used to it!

Pop the pill so its chillen with the liquid.
Then take another little swigg.
Should go down like cake.

Can't drink milk due to the diet I'm on.

Anyway had my second pill today, first attempt went balls up, second attempt it went down fine. It's a psychological thing for sure, today I just knew it wasn't painful and I wouldn't choke so it went down.

I read somewhere if you curl your left hand up with your thumb in the middle, you get no gag reflex. Never tried it, but worth a shot.

Oh god, about three days ago I had some paracetmol. Put it in, put the water in and couldn't swallow... It ended up desolved in my mouth UGHHHHH

I used to be the same as you. Just practice with small sweets to start off with then...

Get a glass of water ready in one hand, and the pill in the other
Place the pill slowly on your tongue
Don't panic
Drink the water as you would normally, and try to let the water push the tablet to the back of your throat
Done!

I have this problem slightly. I don't mind taking them but I can't swallow them properly, like I swallow it with water and that but then the tablet gets stuck in my throat so I have to take more water and it eventually goes down. :(

I've never had this problem before, I just take a massive gulp of water then pop the pill in me mouth and swallow

I had this problem with twitching tablets, dont know what they're called now, but I just asked for smaller tabs. :)

What I do is put them on my tongue, take a drink and then it just goes down with the water. Can't even tell :)

also, don't think about swallowing it or else you will never do it, just think about what you're doing tomorrow whilst swallowing

It's weird. My girlfriend struggles to swallow say paracetamol etc..

I can swallow pills with ease, i dont even need a drink, I can just swallow them... My advice is always, put the pill write at the back on your throat, tilt your head back and drink some water or another liquid to get it down.

I concur. I could never do this & I still can't. When it got to the point that I simply had to swallow them or get extremely ill, I just ended up chewing them.
Have something extremely strong to hand afterwards... 'cause they taste abominable.

I tried putting the pill at the back of my throat & tilting my head but they doesn't work most of the time *shrugs*
