first of all they missed that everton goal last season and played a tic tac advert over it.

this year we missed an ENGLAND goal because they put a Hyundai advert on ITV HD meaning hundreds of thousand of people missed Gerrard's goal. Me and a hundred or so people at the place i was watching the game were not happy at all. and of course ITV's coverage is just terrible anyway.

BBC > ESPN > SKY > FIVE > ITV.

Never again.

Swap Sky with ESPN imo.

But yeah I agree. Plus, I wanted to see the handshakes, and the toss. Instead ITV played the advert. What a stupid thing to do. I get they want to make money but do it at other points.

ITV supposedly don't run it themselves so its not directly their fault, the coverage was otherwise to the standards of other broadcasters and I wouldn't say 'hundreds of thousands' of people missed the goal, ITV HD's share is lucky to be over 1.5% of the people watching a simulcast program.

If you have a problem with commercially funded broadcasters showing World Cup games, the BBC's coverage of England v USA is on BBC Three & HD in about 30 minutes.

i would say there were at least 100 000 watching on ITVHD because at pubs and clubs that's what they show.

and ITV don't take the pictures or replays but they do put the adverts on.

tbh i haven't seen much of ESPN (watched a few games at the pub) but i just hate andy gray.

Rubbish commentators and **** panelists and presentors. Even the opening titles are ****. Arguably less professional than channel 5.

I don't see that much of a difference with HD because it's only a little bit more high def.
Stupid really. ;lll

StefanWolves

The BBC should show all of the World Cup, full stop. They are by far the best broadcaster of Sport and have by far the best line up, they even have Mick McCarthy commentating!

I can't really agree with this seeing as
A) I didn't miss Everton's goal last season against Liverpool, even though many did
B) I didn't miss England's goal last night, even though many did :P.

Arguably less professional than channel 5.Totally agree, Patrick Vierra can't even speak fluent English so why on earth was he on the panel (and what relevance does he have to England vs USA anyway?). Adrian Chiles knows nothing about football and the commentators were just over the top with clichés and optimism.

Then of course there's the disaster with ITV HD and I swear the TV companies get some say over how much of the atmosphere is represented in the audio? I can't blame the vuvuzelas on ITV but I believe they do have the capability to stop them drowning out the commentators etc.

He's better than Adebayor :|

And don't worry, Fifa are going to ban the Vuvuzela's because broadcasters are complaining. Money talks.

wound up? the only person i see wound up is you.

that's your opinion yes, but as i said earlier your repetitiveness is getting very tedious. we all know of your hatred for england so you really don't need to mention in it in every post you make. i guess all this stems from the fact that your beloved wales isn't in the world cup, arr, shame that.

I missed the goal after running from the pub to home. I got home in time to see the replays. Grr.

On the subject of English, Adebayor and Vieira both speak better English than Capello.

it's all correct. you even made a thread aimed at sky sports news about.........england, and more specifically, ledley king.

StefanWolves
13-06-2010, 12:19 PM
so now you've changed the subject to a thread i made... which one is it going to be? i made that thread because as usual sky sports news are making something massive our of something small, as they always do.

that's not 'moaning', that's being honest and realistic.

go play rugby or something, i don't know, just stop being so bitter.

Geraint
13-06-2010, 12:23 PM
you seem to be the one who keeps changing the subject. belittle wales or whatever all you want, i couldn't give a toss. you're just being over-emotional and moaning about any criticism england gets.

i'd rather not play rugby, as i don't like it. i'd be supporting cardiff blues rfc not cardiff city fc if i was a rugby supporter.

you're telling me to not be over-emotional? sorry but try saying that when you have actually experienced a world cup. until you have experienced a world cup only then can you tell me to stop. i notice how you've now changed it from 'moaning' to 'over-emotional', so what's it going to be?!?!?! make your mind up!!

btw i'm STICKING UP for england (you'd do the same for wales), because our performance wasn't actually that bad at all, IMO there were more positives than negatives, the big negative obviously being the GK and CB.

Swap Sky with ESPN imo.

Agreed. Doesn't ESPN have a really bad delay?

I keep hearing about the Everton v Liverpool incident but I don't remember seeing an advert - the pub I was in seemed to lose it's Sky signal or something because the TV just went black for a few seconds then it came back on and Everton were celebrating. Was absolutely devastating though :P

The amazing thing about the England v USA match is that it was the first WC game I didn't watch in HD!!! So far I've watched every match at home on the two HD channels but yesterday I was at someone else's and they only had Freeview so that turned out well!
