This is pretty old news now, but it hasn't been posted (I don't think?), and i'm sure lots of you won't know about this yet, but yeah, Spotify Free (open) is now limited to 20 hours worth of music per month, that's it. :(

not completely true, if you have spotify free, or can still get an invite then it's the same as ever. They've introduced spotify open where you don't need an invite and can listen for 20 hours a month. As far as I'm aware they haven't made any move to getting rid of spotify free yet, I think they just introduced open so people can try it out and encourage them to buy premium or unlimited.
I thought this didn't apply retrospectively to accounts created before the change? At least, I use considerably more than 20 hours per month and it hasn't stopped for me.

Spotify Free (the one you need an invite for) does not have the 20 hours a month limit. You can see that by this screenshot:

So its just the ones who get it without any invites. :P

Oh damn, sorry about this then! The page I looked at on Spotify made it look like there was only 3 options. :P
This thread can be closed then if possible? :P

Ikr!
But I've been using spotify since I joined habbox etc, so nearly a year. Mine is free. :S
Pretty sure I have spotify unlimited. I've had it since it was first introduced to the UK and if I have to limit my listening then that's ridiculous. I'm listening to it for at least 6-10 hours per day.

Ayway on topic; fair play to them for this, it's a nice move o have - how do they actually make money though?

They make money from their Premium & Unlimited subscriptions, Android. :)

The same reason why people use iTunes or another sort of music collection. It's more manageable instead of opening tabs to play the songs you like. Also better if you have a list of your favourite tunes and play them when you want really. :P

If you want infinite invites couldn't you just invite yourself on another account? If you can I'll happily give out invites to anyone who wants them :)

Confused. If I downloaded Spotify by myself for free about two years ago, any idea what I have? If not, does 'Version 0.4.3.383.g278a6e51' mean anything to anybody?
Makes me laugh how much they're trying to sell it though. Never heard anyone actually paying for it myself :P

Sorry I have run out pf editing time.
Question: if I download spotify on my other pc can I log on, on both pc's at the same time - and listen to music on both?

Signed up from the start, so Free's fine for me :) Adverts aren't worthy of £10/month imo.
@Android - No, it won't let you connect with the same account at the same time.

As far as I'm aware, you can log into the same account as many times as you wish, just if on one computer you start playing music it will stop it for other computers.

£10 gets you no adverts, access abroad, access to the Spotify mobile app (with offline sync), offline sync on your computer, 320kbps music instead of the free 192kbps and some pre-release titles.

I've gone off Spotify now. I usually use Grooveshark now, cos A. it's unblocked, and B. it's a website so doesn't need software (but still uses Flash, so no dice if your device has a fruit on the back)
