Usually when they hire staff such as Java, they're for their other services.

But this application actually states "Habbo Hotel". We know they wont move from Flash to Java since they must have spend thousands.

The only thing I can think of is Java on your mobile?

IIRC the Hotel servers are written in Java in Sulakes own syntax known as 'Fuse'. Though that was going back some time now but its unlikely they've made a move in language for their foundation architecture and the servers will continue to be written in Java. Developing Habbo for Java enabled devices is honestly unlikely, the language alongside the low specs of mobile devices that tend to rely on JavaME simply couldn't offer the foundations of a smooth running client. Having said that they could be specifically aiming for the Android OS, but then why would they develop an Android client before a Cocoa client (Apples iOS based) which would have a higher market share especially in the segment which they are interested in, teens.

Id have thought the engine would be built in c or c++. Or, they may have Java in the back end such as the all seeing eye :P

Each language has it's pros and cons but Java was initially written with networking in mind and the virtual machine offers a secure environment for the server software to operate upon. This is all assumptions though!

They already have "Habbo Mobile" under a different name for iOS in order to aim at a slightly more adult market, "Bobba Bar"

Exactly, but the post is asking for a Java developer to work upon Habbo Hotel. My statement was attempting to question the integrity of a Java-based mobile client. You're definitely right though, and if Sulake was to bring Habbo Hotel to the mobile no doubt Bobba Bar would will have had something to play in the development of that client be it market analysis or client prototyping.
