I usually take about a fiver - no more than a tenner just in case I ever need anything :)

nothing. at my school we have a cashless catering system because it's meant to be quicker, so other than when i need to put more money onto my account there's no need as everything has to be bought through that. if i go out after i always come home first anyway so just get some money then

My school got that a couple of years before I left. Preferred just using money by far :P

we got it about 2 years ago and using money was definately easier and quicker :(. it takes a lot longer too because it's done on a fingerprint thingy so it gets dirty and doesn't work properly and just generally breaks pretty often. using cards which you just swipe in like any other school would've been a lot easier, how was yours done?

my school has a fingerprint system but I don't ever put money in because I get free school meals, but if I'm gonna go shopping after school I take my shopping money. I sometimes take £1 for chewing gum and crisps though :)

I take enough for the bus. If you take more then you need you get douchebags asking to "borrow" money which they "will pay back".

Mine was just a sensor thing (they might have swiped it at the tills but it had a sensor system for the doors to gain access to school). That's why they were annoying though because if you forgot your card you couldn't get into school lol and also the fact that you never need money means that you'll probably forget to bring some to top it up at the machine. I don't think it was until I was in like year 10 or 11 when we got them though so I always had money with me and by sixth form we went out for lunch anyway.

OH YEAH AND I'm sure they used to monitor what people were eating and not allow them to get too much junk food or something. Although the vending machines and pretty much all the junk food was long gone by then (nice one Jamie Oliver ;l). I never did this but some kids used to use their free dinners repeatedly at the different food counters (we had three different bars) so they could get more free stuff but the cards stopped that one because it was all on the screen :P

I do agree, I normally take enough to get 2-3 packs of chewing gum + enough for a drink

Lol we have a card, a machine in the diner and in the main reception to put money on, our school photo is linked to the card and is used as verification when using as it pops up on till :P

I usually take £2.50 - £2.30 for cheeseburger & chips & a can of coke, 20p for my wallet :P

When I was at school I took like £3 just for tuck (usually a sandwich & a drink) and I didn't really have dinner at school, with left over change I'd get a drink from the shop after school for when I walked home. Thirsty business.

I never take money to college. I tend to go home for my lunch because it's like 10 minutes down the road.

If I ever do take any money it'll only be about £3.

when i was at school i dont think i took money cus i took my own food. then in year 11 we were allowed to go to the bakery so id take like 2 quid a day and keep the change
then at college i'd go in with 25quid on the monday, get my bus pass, spend the rest on food and keep whatever was left

I do the same. Also depends what I'm doing for lunch. I usually go subway or something, which alone is £5+ and then drinks during college (Even though we're in an IT room hehe).

I think I waste money though.
