Right so tonight england are playing on tv, because i have been dragged into work tonight [Odeon Cinemas] i have been allowed to turn the tv we have in our lobby onto the match so we can listen to it and watch when nothings happening.

To be honest, most places let you do that BUT you have to stay back afterwards to make up for the hours you missed during the game.
I'd rather go to work and watch the highlights, but im off tonight so woooo!

Don't know where you work but that's something very rare unless its like the semis or final. :P

I dnt work anywhere but last cup i was allowed off. Also my mate works at tesco and hes allowed any england game off he wants for like the 3 hours aslong as theres someone to cover him
I swapped shifts, so instead of having tomorrow night off, I have tonight off ;)

So what if everyone wants to stay off to watch it :S
Having a TV at work, especially if you're just standing behind a counter, is the best way of allowing employees to watch matches I would have thought - from an employer's perspective.

That's because he can get any shift off if he can get someone to cover him. If someone works your hours you can have whatever you want off, it's nothing to do with the World Cup.

We don't even know if we'll get through yet :P but if we do the next match will either be at 7:30pm on the Saturday or at 3pm on the Sunday.

Wish my work was like that. If it is dead in our place they expect us to find something else to do in the store despite everything already been done :/
I think it is acceptable to have it on in the background as long as you actually still do the job you are given.

Allowed off what? There's a difference between getting a mate to swap shifts and actually being allowed off work all together to watch a match.
Swapping shifts and covering is completely different.

Lol, my dad's work wouldn't dare do that.
Plus, the manager isn't even english so he wouldn't allow it anyway.
We're getting off school at 2 on Wednesday for the match haha, first time in 8 years the head teacher has done something good!
