If you have all the files back, then you can tell iTunes to import all the music from a certain folder and what not?

this. go to file and go to add folder to library.

There should be an xml file in

yourusername/music/itunes/previous itunes libraries

pick the most recent one of them

go to itunes file > library > import playlist and choose the most recent one of the previous libraries

Depending how old that file is it will import most of the music back into iTunes

Alternatively, just import the itunes library xml if its got stuff in it or if you deleted it, download an un-delete program to restore it (or check your recycle bin) and then use that in the process above (:

edit: Turns out they're now itl files not xml, will work the same way though probably

How will it not?

System Restore is only for system/registry/application issues, it "is not a replacement for file backups".

System restore won't help.

Get Recuva and scan the drive the files were on. Then get them back. Works 100%.
Then drag them to iTunes again.
