Hey,

I was cleaning up my moms really old computer, and when i reassembled it it started for a second, but then completely cuts out. I tried trying to find the problem, and it only cuts out when the Auxiliary 12-V ATX Connector is connected. When it isnt, it stays running.

What could be causing this?

Thanks

Stephen!

Leave it unplugged if it works?

Yeah but it provides power to the Processor and it was always connected before. If i leave it unplugged then it'll cause a lot more heat inside the computer and its already hot enough as it is. It's a piece of junk. But , she wont buy a new one :L

Less power != More heat.

Wth is "auxilary 12-V" anyways? I've only seen 20/24 pin (m)ATX connectors and the standard 4/8 pin CPU power. :P

It does = more heat because the 24 pin is trying to power the processor too and it overheats. The Aux 12-v is the 4/8pin CPU power.
