View Full Version : The 'next England manager'

If reports are to be proven true, after the World Cup TheFA could well be looking for a new manager for the national side. I know I'm jumping the gun a bit but it will probably happen, so who do you think should be the next England manager, be it in 2 months time or in 2 years time when Capello's contract is over?
I personally think it MUST be and English manager and think it should be between Stuart Pierce, Harry Redknapp or Roy Hogdson. By having an England manager, especially if it were Pierce, their would definitely be some passion in the team.
I would like Roy Hogson to be manager, he's experienced, seen it all, done it all, has done a FANTASTIC job at Fulham and he's also already said that if TheFA were to come in for him he'd have no choice but to take the Job.
So, what do you lot think?

Harry has just signed a new deal and is (possibly) managing a CL side for the first time in his career.
In an ideal world, I'd like Woy or Hiddink.
I'm all for discipline, but treating training like an army camp can't do much for team spirit. (Look what happened to Ramos at Spurs...)

Redknapp would be great but doubt he'd do it, not enough freedom with national sides and he can't do his wheeler dealing to sort the team out. BECKHAM FOR MANAGER might as well it's not like he can do much worse and they'll all just be like k let's win for Becks he has good hair

Really?
Harry wouldn't need to be a wheeler dealer, England has enough talent at his disposal.
As much as I love Becks, has he got the personality to be a manager?

******* hell, we can almost see everything in that picture, that's awful. And I'd like Mourinho. ;) No, Pearce. If we fail to get to the Euros I wouldn't give a ****, as long as Pearce has them playing the way he did. I'd rather we went out vs Slovenia but had Psycho's mentality about it.

Raymond Domenech.
Could always have John Toshack. Wouldn't need to worry about wingers that way, he doesn't play with any.

Probably not but can you imagine how much everyone would be behind them as a country if he was managing them for Euro 2012 it'd be mental :P be a good time for him to do it too because much later and half the kids watching won't even remember him anyway

Oh shame I spelled 'Pearce' wrong. :P
There is also no doubt in my mind that one day, Beckham will be England manager.
i'm gonna be honest, i don't blame fabio at all for the way england are playing, he's a decent manager: i would also like to see becks manage, but i don't think he will. i reckon redknapp will get it.

Non foreign:
Hogdson or Pearce
Foreign:
Pep Guardiola or any manager that can handle a 4-3-3 system because that's what the future of England is looking at the crop of current, and future players that we have. Guardiola is crap with transfers too, and he doesn't need to be good at them for International football.
I blame Capello for some things like his team choice, his formation choice, him telling the players too late, and his lack of communication.

I agree, or Mourinho, good with the media, good with the players etc plus they're both winners.

I spelt it wrong, by an extra n. It was still closer to Maradona than Madonna so the picture wasn't necessary.
i'd like english. hodgson is good (although i just don't like him for some reason lol), pearce would be passionate, beckham would be inexperience (but loved), redknapp would be awesome to be honest.

Would be just terrific if the media start going on about the manager leaving immediately after the tournament. Really helpful that is
Anyway I reckon every country should have to have a native manager. Makes no sense for a foreigner to want a country which isn't their homeland, to win.

If Harry Redknapp was offered the England job, no matter if he is in the champions league, he would take the job. I have no doubt in my mind about how passionate that man is for England.
I would love him to manage, as soon as he walked in the dressing room there would be instant respect for him. Beckham could then be his number 2, giving him experience to take the job himself one day.

Never liked Redknapp although he'd do a good job. I'd prefer Pearce because he'd know the U21 side inside out and would be great for the future but then again, maybe he should be hired when all these U21 players are ready to step up. As for the next few years, maybe Hodgson.
Browney
21-06-2010, 04:23 PM
I've decided. I want Pearce. Next Euro he should ring the changes in. Drop Carragher, Ferdinand, SWP. Bring in the U21 squad. Groom them during the next Euro so they'll be a force in the next WC.

I worry that too many of the players in our squad are in their late 20's/early 30's, give it after Euro 2012 and I can't see many of the likes of Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, Ferdinand, Cole, Barry playing again.
Can see us in a few years time being what Italy are now. We have some good youngsters coming through, but invidividually will they ever meet the individual calibre of the players we have now? (regardless if they play well for England or not)

Some of them will yes.
Hart will be the best keeper we've had for years.
Richards will be a top class RB in a few years time, if not Johnson isn't old anyway.
The CB's could be a problem.
Gibbs won't be as good as Cole but he won't be far off.
Rodwell and Wilshire will be world class.
Milner, not sure about.
Walcott when he learns to cross will be very good.
A. Johnson could be world class.
Rooney is Rooney.
We could have an even better side bar the CB's.

Add Cattermole to that list too. A very good holding midfielder considering his age.

Yea. The spaces I think that could be filled are 2 CB's, and a CM. Cattermole could be that CM. It's hard to tell what will happen in the future though.
I think Smalling and Shawcross at CB, but not sure really. Maybe Jones from Blackburn.

He is, but he's dirty. He will always throw his heart and soul into a match. Much like England's current captain. But I would, as an England fan, prefer to see Cattermole deployed from the bench once we're winning so he can really clasp hold of the game, stop the other team picking up steam. He reads the game really well.
Walcott - Rooney - Johnson
Wilshere
Rodwell - Muamba
Gibbs - Shawcross - Onouha - Richards
Well, predicting 4 years in advance, that's what I'd play.

I'm not too keen in Smalling but if Wenger and SAF both were willing to pay £10 Mill for him, they must see some real talent.
We also have Sturridge, Moses, Welbeck and other young players.
I think we have loads of talent. But again it's too early to see who will become world class although I do think that we have a few that can make it.
