on n64 is it out on xbox yet?

Have you been living under a Dreamcast?
Nintendo and Activision hold the rights, so instead of doing the nice thing and bringing it out to XBL/PSN, they're doing a remake on the Wii.

No, it will never be released on Xbox.
Rather than Nintendo manning up it will be re-released on a console that fails at first person shooters, great.
The above comment does not include Red Steel, I'm sure that's good, but Goldeneye will not be, fast paced multiplayer FPS and Wii do not mix.

Nintendo shouldn't have to give it to a rival console should they? It will damage their sales no?

No.. It really wouldn't, to be honest only the TRUE Goldeneye fanboys will buy a Wii purely for Goldeneye and even a good percentage of them will refuse to play an FPS with a Wiimote.

I've played Red Steel and I didn't think it was too great. I can't see FPS games working on the Wii at all, but I know people who enjoy them so whatever floats your boat

You will be able to use the classic controller or gamecube controller for GoldenEye on Wii if you so desire. You are not forced to use the Wiimote.

So you think giving a highly regarded game to a rival console wouldn't harm sales? I'm sure it would :).

Have you played Metroid Prime 3? It's controls are absolute perfection. I love it ;D

Depends, if enough sell on the 360 some money would come back to Nintendo seeing as they would get a percentage for owning the rights to the game. It all depends on how many units are sold both in comparison to just the Wii.
Anyway, you can use the classic controller so it's all good. The Wii can be fast paced? Seeing as GoldenEye was on the N64 which was pretty relaxed...

Saying Goldeneye on Xbox wouldn't damage Nintendo is like saying Halo on Wii wouldn't damage Microsoft in my opinion. I'd consider buying an Xbox if it had Goldeneye and this is directly eating into my "Gaming budget". Even if you personally don't believe it would damage their sales you still can't complain at them like Neil did, business is business. Nintendo wants to maximise their profits and they clearly thought they wouldn't do it by releasing one of their most famous games on a rival console. It has nothing to do with "manning up" :)

Nintendo could release Mario on another console at this point and still have good sales because it's Nintendo, if you seriously think the console with the most sales currently have a multiplatform Goldeneye game will damage sales then something is wrong, like I already said, only hardcore fans would actually go out and buy a Wii for it and even then it probably wont be that great, they will probably sell a lot of copies but it's hardly damaging them at all if they release to PS3 or Xbox since every sold unit would get them money either way, so they'll profit whether it's multiplatform or not, as it stands now it's just another Publisher/Developer thing were they can't just grow up and make everything multiplatform, that way games will be released in the forms they were meant to be released in. ¬¬

Thats even more ludicrous. I bought a Wii purely for Mario and thats the reason I own one. Sure I enjoy lots of other games but Galaxy 1 and Galaxy 2 are the sole reasons for me playing it so often. If they appeared on other consoles it would of course damage their sales as one of their core exclusives. The Wii's market is totally different to that of the PS3 or 360, the Wii thrives on exclusives whereas the PS3 and 360 thrive mainly on the services they provide (XBL etc) since their most popular games are often the multi-platform ones. The Console market is MUCH more lucrative than the games market (particularly for Nintendo who make a profit on every console), the money that Nintendo would make for sales on other platforms is nothing compared to the money they make from consoles. They take in around $3 Billion a year net income I believe. By giving away their exclusives they would make a few million $'s in software sales but even if it took just 10% away from their overall yearly revenue thats still $300 Million.
Nintendo is in it for money, it will harm their revenue by giving away exclusives.

Goldeneye would not loose Ninento money because they would sell the IP for millions :P

Nintendo own the licensing rights to the original, why should they have to give it to Microsoft? Should Microsoft and Sony have to give Nintendo rights to their exclusives? I repeat, it has nothing to do with "manning up".
Ok now read again.
Nintendo will earn money either way.
If Goldeneye was multiplatform then, Microsoft will earn money that is split with Nintendo as well, Sony will do the same and the Nintendo sales will be their own.
This has nothing to do with "oh Nintendo need exclusives" the fact is, the game will sell better as a multiplatform game because to be fair, the Wii isn't as good as the PS3 or xbox for FPS games, Nintendo will not lose money because they'll earn money from 2 alternative streams as well as their own.
It's like trying to argue with a fanboy with you, try and think logically for the love of God.
This might fail anyway, the first Goldeneye was crap.

Trust me I'm not a fanboy :). I own many consoles not produced by Ninty. You might not have read it but read what I said earlier in the thread but Nintendo makes almost no money on software sales. Their softwares primary function is to help sell their hardware which is where the real money comes from. If Nintendo made a few million pounds on sales of Goldeneye it would be nothing compared to the revenue they could lose from console sales. You can't blame them for not taking the risk, again it has nothing to do with "manning up". I appreciate Nintendo's software but if I owned neither an Xbox or a Wii and the Xbox had Goldeneye then I would seriously consider buying it.
Also the deal between Microsoft and Nintendo reportedly broke down because Microsoft wasn't offering enough money for the licence for it so Nintendo clearly thought they would generate very little profit.

Neil is just trolling.
Also, Nintendo would lose money if GoldenEye became a multi-platform game. Most console owners who have a Wii also own a PS3 or an Xbox 360. If the game was released on all consoles people would be more inclined to buy it for their other systems rather than the Wii due to its awkward controller and inferior graphics. A lot of people would also just casually pick up the game if it sounded interesting and was available for their system. Even if Nintendo made some kind of deal with Microsoft and Sony (which they won't because Nintendo are neither the publishers nor the developers of the game), they would not receive a substantial share of the profits. The game would sell best on PS3 and Xbox and Sony and Microsoft would make the most money, not Nintendo.

Indeed. The deal wasn't to have it on Wii either, it was to have it exclusively on the Xbox with Nintendo receiving a share of the profit that the game generated. It would just pull people away from the Wii in my opinion :)

Oh, we're talking about the original GoldenEye here? My post was concerning the new one. :P Nevertheless, its pretty much the same situation either way.

A mix of both ;). I'm personally looking forward to Goldeneye on Wii although I still remain sceptical :)

I have very high hopes sinces its Eurocom who are making the game. They made Nightfire for the last generation of consoles, which I feel is one of the most enjoyable multiplayer games ever. Lets hope they work their magic into GoldenEye.

I agree, Nightfire was brilliant, especially on explosives 1 or 2. Still I'm trying not to get my hopes up cause I love GoldenEye so so much ;D

Yeah, Nightfire really captured the spirit of the original GoldenEye whilst also bringing along something new. Theres nothing like a night in with your friends, playing a bit of multiplayer on Nightfire against the maximum amount of hardest bots in the game. I personally loved dominating the game by sniping people from the roof of one of the buildings on Skyrail. :8 There were some weird glitches on that map. I put Wai Lin on the opposing team and since I always put the game at the maximum amount of kills needed to win it always went on forever. After about three quarters of the way through I noticed I hadn't seen her in ages and so went and found her by using the little radar map thing. Turns out she had somehow climbed the mountain surrounding one of the paths between the buildings. She had gotten as high as the map allowed by constantly running against the wall. I tried to do the same for like 10 minutes but it was just impossible. In the end I sniped her down. If the multiplayer in the new GoldenEye is anything like it was in Nightfire but online that would be absolutely amazing.
